GoFundMe page launched to help save non league club suspended from all football activity

A GoFundMe page has been launched this week to help save non league club Yaxley FC, currently suspended from all football activity.

The 9th tier side is facing significant challenges, as outlined in a statement from the club chairman, David Cattermoul.

The suspension includes training and matches for its 22 teams, due to missing financial and other information from the treasurer, Gregg Marshall.

The club, including its senior men’s team in the UCL Premier Division South and its reserve, A, youth, and junior teams, remains suspended, with no public statement from Hunts FA.

Have a read of the statements further down in this article as an explanation to what has happened…

STATEMENT:

Dear Yaxley Football Club – The Cuckoos family, friends, coaches and fans

Its with deep sadness that I write this statement today but I feel the time is right and the need to inform you all of what is going on at the club is apparent.

Many of you know we had an AGM 2 weeks ago, to those that attended my heartwarming thanks and gratitude goes to you, and to those who sent in your vote again the biggest of thank yous.

As you may be or not ve aware there was a complaint made about the AGM and it has now been null and void and nothing from that AGM stands, the FA have got involved and want to assist and try help the club but for me the club needs rid of certain individuals before it can progress any further. I honestly thought that was the end, We can turn over a new leaf and that be that but apparently not.

So now here’s where we find ourselves, the club has now been put on suspension die to not receiving certain information from the treasurer and also other information from ourselves, this means no training or games for any of the teams, I want to apologise from the bottom of my heart that this is happening, I brought many of you into the football club, growing from only 9 teams to a fantastic 22 teams now. Since this has happened this have been changed from the “hierarchy” and people have been asked to “choose sides” which i think is pathetic. Since growing the club there has been nothing but problems and I will now explain why and who’s to blame here.

So the treasurer (Gregg Marshall) has decided to change the way the banking works, not speaking to anyone before doing so and that has made payments extremely difficult, before this the refs would come to the bar and receive there pay or I’d pay them straight away from the bank and that be that. So I apologise to refs and contractors that your pay has been delayed all I can say is this is out of my hands and something that wasn’t authorised by myself or anyone else in the committee. Ever since Gregg has come into the football club everything has been a fight and this is where the problems have occurred. Gregg has no child playing for the club anymore as he plays elsewhere so to me that’s a massive conflict of interest, he also has items that have been sponsored to Yaxley football club and took them to other clubs with him. Would you call that theft? Ill leave that to you guys.

This club at the minute is going massively downhill and I put this down to Jeff trying to get himself back involved with it after walking away a few years ago and not wanting any more to do with it, why has he got himself back involved? Ill leave that to you guys but all I know is what does 22 teams bring in… more money?

I’m not a yes boy and i never will be and that doesn’t sit right with certain individuals but no one will ever argue i don’t have the clubs best interests at heart.

I’m currently once again finding myself funding things just to keep the club going, the kids training going and I shouldn’t have to do this but I do it because I want the club to be great and progress but at what point do we sit and say enough is enough? I loaned the club £30k last season just so we could continue where we are and stay sustained as a step 5 club. The club stopped paying players at Xmas and I that’s why you saw them leave but I couldn’t cope with watching the plummet and so I paid the players myself go come back. I now find myself struggling to see where the money will be paid back from and may have to seek a legal route and if that’s the case Yaxley football Club will be no more and I don’t want that, that’s why I keep holding and holding off in the hope something will change.

This club has the potential to be something so special but with the current people still trying to get there hands in there it won’t ever work.

This has had a massive impact on my business where I now find myself behind on rent and am being forced to look at options of leaving, not through choice but as I can’t afford the rent at the minute I may have no choice. Its a shit situation to be in and very stressful but I will keep everyone updated on the outcome.

The Fa will release when the new AGM will be held.

For now I’m here but I don’t know how long for.

This is how fans reacted with the GoFundMe page launched to help save the non league club suspended from all football activity…

Stacey Smith: Gutted to see that after everything the same thing continues. I have said previously and will go on record that the issues within the club clearly sit in positions that make no sense. Currently the clubs sitting mid table in a strong league, yet year after year the issues remain, the fault/blame clearly doesn’t lay either the current chairman, significant issues belied the club before the current chairman took over the club and financially resolved the problems. Yet the merry go round continues, such a shame and a kick in the teeth to all the volunteers, coaches teams and people who have given there everything to help promote grass roots football at Yaxley. I said to my family this weekend that there was clearly something a miss. Gutted for everyone.

Ben Webster: After reading this and seeing the reaction from so many people the only thing this post does is hurt the football club. Any matters within the football club should certainly stay within the club. To post all these issues and problems for everyone to see has and will effect the club more then anyone could imagine Players, managers sponsors parents and supporters do not need to see any kind of politics linked to the club. I wish all the energy going around was used to put right what’s wrong and take on board what the FA have asked the club to sort and carry this out asap. The FA have asked for the club to just follow the guidelines. That should be everyone’s priority who’s involved in the football club who work behind the scenes. No one will ever be bigger then the football club and everyone involved needs to realise this and start working together follow the FA rules so this doesn’t happen again. We all need to gather round the players from the youngest to the senior teams and all involved need to push the club in the right direction. As a management team our focus is on the players and trying to keep people focused on what has been a great start to the season with a fantastic group of players we have worked so hard to group together.

George Blake: Not the news we wanted to hear. Surly for the community and the love for the club you can all just get together and settle your differences. The club over the years have seen highs and lows and the history and memories that have been made over the years will stick with me for many years to come, I was a part of the committee a few years ago and it was very challenging at times but we got through it as a team. All involved need to just get a grip and pull together, think of all the past and present committee and community members that have worked tirelessly hard to keep the club afloat over the years all that hard work that would be pointless if the club was to fold. Just get together and sort out your differences and get the club back to where it belongs. This club is a fantastic family friendly place and the village needs it. #upthecuckoos

Sera Hodgson: This situation has become deeply concerning. For several months, one of the individuals has been applying undue pressure and contacting people around the club, openly stating that they had hoped their actions would force him to step down. Their behavior demonstrates no genuine interest in the growth or success of the club; instead, it is actively undermining both the organization and its reputation. Unfortunately, David has borne the brunt of these actions, and the ones who suffer most are ultimately the children. The conduct of these individuals is both damaging and exhausting for everyone involved.

Dean Robert Kent: On behalf of Team Isaac FC , Team J and other local charity football clubs you have been a big support to we wish you guys the best and hope you resolve all issues and continue being the great club you are ..

Michael Saffer: Maybe you should sell tickets to the next AGM. Sounds like it’s going to be interesting.

Griffin’s Automotive Ltd: I understand that running a team and everything involved behind the scenes is not straight forward or easy, especially in the current climate. From a sponsor perspective, id hope that i havent heavily invested in kit for a team to go down the pan and leave me hanging From a fathers perspective, my son has massively grown fond of the team and has grown from a div 3 player to a much higher level being with yaxley. I love all the commitment and excellence the team and coaches provides. From an outsiders perspective, im not seeing how there should be a treasury issue with 22 active teams paying into a pot, theres an issue somewhere. It needs to be looked into as teams, kids, parents and coaches are all going to suffer because of this. But on a more supportive note, i hope whatever issues are able to be resolved, and can i express my deepest sincerity to the situation and i offer if there is any way i can be of any help please reach out. We should all be supportive in situations like this, but we would need transparency 🫶🏻

Julia Clay: Absolutely gutted for you and the whole club that this is happening. You have created such a fantastic community for the youth football alone and my son is building confidence in regular playing and being part of the club. Really hope this gets sorted and you get the support you need to move past this and continue to grow the club. 🤞

Brian Miles: Not just players you’ve brought in but Fans to! I’ve not spoken to anyone who isn’t behind you or had a bad word to say all the best up the cuckoo’s!!
