The behaviour of Gent fans have been slammed after throwing seats, bottles at Chelsea fans and also rip down a banner on Thursday night.
It came during the first round of UEFA Europa Conference League matches, at Stamford Bridge, with reports and posts in the stadium and on social media highlighting just how nasty it became in the away end.
Banners dedicated to Chelsea legends Bobby Tambling and Gianfranco Zola were reportedly torn down or damaged, acts which understandably riled up Chelsea supporters watching on.
Despite the negative actions by some Gent fans, the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge was described by some as lively, with Chelsea fans in some rather amusing moments for their singing, chanting, and mocking moments directed at Gent, such as using phone flashlights after a goal similar to Gent fans’ display before.
However, this atmosphere was tarnished by the behaviour of the visiting supporters, leading to criticism and discussions about fan conduct in football.

The incidents led to widespread condemnation on social media, with Twitter users expressing disappointment over the disrespectful behaviour towards club history represented by the banners.
There was also a debate on whether such actions could be seen as provocation, potentially escalating tensions between fans.
Chelsea ended up winning the game 4-2, which might have heightened the frustrations among Gent fans, although this doesn’t justify their destructive behaviour.
This match, while a victory for Chelsea on the pitch, will also be remembered for the fan disturbances, prompting reflections on sportsmanship and respect among football supporters.
Chelsea Fan TV gave their reaction on it all, venting anger while also criticising police and stewards, have a watch…

Chelsea played out a 4-2 victory over KAA Gent at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night with goals from Renato Veiga, Pedri Neto, Christopher Nkunku and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca told TNT Sports:
“Good performance. It was a tough game and we approached it well very. It’s a shame the second goal we conceded, we can avoid that.
“Every game is complicated. We have many things we can do better – attack better, defend better.
“The ones who play tonight it doesn’t mean they won’t play the next game.
“I know Kiernan very well. I know when you are the main player and then move to a big club it’s not easy because you’re not the main player. Sometimes you struggle a bit at the beginning so I was very happy for him.”
Chelsea goalscorer Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall said to TNT Sports: “I’m over the moon. I’ve been waiting for that moment since joining the club, to show everyone what my qualities are.
“Scoring the goal is an amazing feeling. I won’t forget this night.
“I pride myself on working as hard as I can every day. I’d like to play more but it’s my duty to make sure the manager has a decision to make. I feel fresh.
“I’ve loved it. You come through the door and expectations are through the roof. The standards are so high. It’s so nice to play with players on your wavelength – top, top players.
“It’s about learning and evolving. That’s literally what I’m here for.
“He [Enzo Maresca] is a breath of fresh air. I was taken aback by him last year. Everything he did was passionate and motivated. You can see the lads are buying into it.”
