West Brom are threatening to sue their rivals Aston Villa over the transfer of former Baggies player Louie Barry, according to Mirror’s James Nursey.
Villa are reported to be making an imminent £3million signing of the current Barcelona striker, who left Albion ‘dismayed’ in the summer when he rejected a contract.
Despite Barry’s move to the La Liga, West Brom are yet to receive a penny in compensation for the England under 17 international and are now set to take legal advice.
The club’s former academy chief Mark Harrison handed in his notice before taking up a similar role with Villa, which came shortly after the player turned down all West Brom’s negotiations over a three-year deal.
Now the pair are set to be linking up together in a deal worth as high as £3m.
Harrison said in a interview on Barry back in September, when he moved to the Premier League side: “It stinks to high heaven”.
“We have to make sure locally Aston Villa are the club everyone wants to come to.
“A player left West Bromwich Albion to go to Barcelona. He’s from Sutton Coldfield. He’s a Villa fan, his dad’s a Villa fan. That just can’t happen in the future.”
ABOUT LOUIE BARRY:
– Scored 10 goals in five games for England U15s in Italy
– Won the golden boot at the Val-de-Marne tournament which England U16s were crowned winners
– He’s a striker and can play out wide or down the middle
– He also represented Ireland at a schoolboy level, qualifying through his grandparents

Evidently too scared to sue Barça, the actual culprits

Harrison"s first interview with Villa TV tells it all how this Barry saga has panned out. Just listening to that interview anyone would think all this was planned five months ago. Something definitely suspect about all of this

Maybe on the grounds that it was all set up by Harrison to allow villa to sign him without us wanting triple the price via tribunal

Happy to stand corrected but I’m sure if Louie Barry had moved to an Eng club when he left #WBA to Barca we would get a tribunal fee (as per M Rogers) If abroad it’s a set 130k. 130k we have never had. 6 months later they sell to Villa for 1.5m?. Smell a rat? #westbrom

Makes me laugh, Barcelona are the ones appearing to rip WBA off and villa on paper paying over the odds…yet WBA considering suing villa – you can’t make it up!
