Furious Tottenham owned player Danny Rose slams ‘fucking joke’ Premier League Project Restart plans whilst speaking on Instagram live.

But the Newcastle defender, on loan from Spurs, is appalled at plans to return while death rates remain high.

The UK government confirmed on Monday that professional sport will not resume until at least the 1st of June, behind closed doors, as they laid out its “roadmap” to recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

Premier League clubs held further talks with league officials on Monday to try to end the deadlock over plans to resume the season, with teams opposed to the idea of games at neutral venues.

On Instagram, Rose said: “It’s a fucking joke, I’m not even going to lie.

“The Government is saying bring football back because it’s going to boost the nation’s morale, I don’t give a fuck about the nation’s morale.

“People’s lives are at risk, you know what I mean?

“Football shouldn’t even be spoken about coming back until the numbers have dropped massively. It’s bollocks.

“We’ll see, I think I’m getting tested on Friday, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

“I listened to the announcement, no football until June 1st or something, I don’t even pay attention to any of that.

“I’m sad that people are getting sick and being affected. Football should be the last of things that need to be sorted.

“I think everyone will get tested as soon as they get back and we’ll see what happens.

“I just hope the numbers stay low so we can get back to normal as soon as possible.”

He joins the likes of Sergio Aguero, Glenn Murray and Matteo Guendouzi in insisting football shouldn’t return while people’s lives are at risk.
