Fulham pitch invader goes viral after Harry Wilson stuns Brentford with two injury-time goals

A Fulham pitch invader goes viral after celebrating the moment Harry Wilson stuns Brentford with two injury-time goals.

Craven Cottage was bouncing, yes, limbs from Fulham fans, they couldn’t believe their eyes when Harry Wilson flicked in a leveller on the 92nd minute before heading home a 97th minute winner.

Vitaly Janelt had put Brentford ahead, against the run of play, but just as they looked to be taking all three points home, the Bees collapsed right at the end.

The result means that Fulham are now up to ninth in the Premier League table with 15 points from 10 games played, while Brentford slip to 12th with 13 points.

Player ratings (per Sky Sports)

Player of the Match: Harry Wilson (Fulham)

Brentford boss Thomas Frank speaking to BBC Sport: “I think the better team on the day won it in the end. We lost it from a situation where we did everything right – credit to Harry Wilson but he only scores from that position one in 100.”

When asked whether it would be fair to say Brentford didn’t match their usual level: “That would be more than fair. Every game has its own story – we mainly look at ourselves, but there’s another team on the pitch who did well today.

“Let’s look at the end of the season and see how many wins we’ve got on the road. On paper Fulham probably aren’t the biggest team we’ve played, but they probably did the best against us in terms of dominating the game.”

Fulham midfielder Harry Wilson told Sky Sports:

“It was an amazing feeling to come on and score the two goals to win us the game. Throughout the course of the game, I feel it was what we deserved. We penned them in during the second half.

“Marco told me to play in the pocket and try to find space in the box and that’s what I tried to do for both goals. Both of them went in, maybe not quite as I’d have planned!”

On his first goal: “It went wide to Adama and he put it in first time. I just tied to get across the front and I was just trying to help it on really and hopefully someone could get onto it at the far post! When I saw it fly in, it was an amazing feeling.”

On his second goal: “The second goal was a bit luckier. I think it was meant to go the other way! It came off my shoulder but they all count.”

Fulham boss Marco Silva speaking to BBC Sport: “It was definitely a deserved win. We started on the front foot and dominated all the game. In the first 20 minutes we had two clear chances to score.

“After they scored we didn’t lose the confidence and the trust in ourselves, we kept pushing them back and we created enough to not be losing at half-time.

“I told the players this is football, it can happen, but we have to keep pushing, working hard and playing our way.

“It was late, it should’ve been much before, but that’s football.”

Silva to Sky Sports:

“We definitely deserved the three points. No doubts about it. Tonight had been our season so far: dominant, the best team on the pitch, creating many more chances. But the reality we didn’t get the points we deserve from the game. From the first minute we were on the front foot.

“The score was really unfair at half time. I told the players to keep pushing hard. Brentford defended really hard around their box. I’d love to see us a bit more calm in some moments. We tried everything from the bench.

“Sometimes football takes from you but in the end it gives to you if you keep working hard.

“It was a great night for the fans. We’re here to give these type of moments.

“It’s been a tough season for Harry in terms of minutes. He’s been on fire for the national team. He had a great night.”

Brentford manager Thomas Frank speaking to Sky Sports: “It was tough. It is emotionally very tough right now. When you are leading in the 92nd minute and you lose it is tough. I don’t think we hit our highest level. I think on the day Fulham were better. There was a lot of good defending and effort and I thought that would have given us the win. We could have won it with the chance for Fabio Carvalho and then we lost.

“When we look at the game back and we are more cool-headed we will probably be very happy with the defensive standard. I thought there were unbelievable blocks and recovery runs and all that we did well. On the ball, we didn’t do enough.”

On Janelt’s goal: “It is nice – I will take any goal inside or outside the box. If you are there and on your good foot, of course, you need to shoot.

“It is a work in progress. We took some big steps forward in terms of defending but two steps backwards in terms of controlling the game high up the pitch.”
