It has been reported that Frank Lampard’s future at Derby County is in doubt due to the the recent cutbacks at the club.
He was appointed at the start of the season and has since guided them to the top six, but his deal to stay for three years might be coming to an end sooner than expected.
The Championship side’s owner, Mel Morris, was claimed to be considering selling the Rams for a little as £1 with him stepping up his search for fresh investment.
They are believed to be losing around £2m a month, meaning their could face FFP sanctions if they fail to go to get promoted and a new buyer comes about.
A trip to Dubai for the squad’s warm weather training was planned during the international break, however that was the latest to fall victim to cost-cutting, causing unrest amongst the camp who had planned to also take families with them.
The Times reported: “Lampard remains committed to Derby for the rest of the season… but both parties are likely to take stock in the summer depending on where the club finish in the table and the ownership situation.”
Lampard has already been linked with a return to Chelsea to replace current boss Maurizio Sarri whose future is said to be at risk. Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has also been mentioned, but we’d be very surprised if he left the West Midlands side mess up their big plans/project.
After finding out about Mel Morris’ plans as well as the reports that Frank Lampard might be on his way out of the club, fans have taken to social media to give their thoughts, Nottingham forest fans also mocked the current situation – find out more of what they had to say on the next page.
