Reports have emerged that former Wigan Athletic forward Andy Delort has been arrested for insulting a police officer following a drunken car chase.
It has been said that the current Montpellier player was seated in the passenger seat of his own car alongside a drunk driver who refused to stop for police.
According to Midi Libre, the driver of the vehicle had no licence and was driving under the influence.
The driver refused to stop following the presence of police and instead opted to put his foot to the floor and speed off.
The report adds that Delort told the police officer “I don’t give a fuck, I earn £135,000 a month”.
The Frenchman could now face charges for making threats to a person in authority.
Earlier this week, Delort tweeted: “”Passenger of the vehicle, we were arrested like every other person in the vehicle, and I reacted in a lively way because I found the situation unfair, the words that are lent to me are totally wrong. We have a game on Saturday, facing Reims, and I would now like to focus on that.”
The story quickly got the attention of football fans on social media, some couldn’t help but mock the Wigan flop – check out those tweets on the next page.
