Former Everton, Man City, Sunderland, Blackburn midfielder is training with Sheffield United

Former Everton and Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell is training with Premier League side Sheffield United, according to reports.

The player, 28, is currently a free agent after he left Blackburn Rovers earlier this summer and surprised the football world when he was linked with Serie A club Roma, however rejected him after having a trial with them.

Blades boss Chris Wilder said on the player: “He is obviously a very talented player who should be playing in the Premier League regularly, but for one reason or another isn’t,.

“Jack is looking at us and we are looking at Jack.

“It’s not a trial. Jack is in for a few days. We know about Jack. He’s without a club at the moment.

“He is obviously a talent because of the teams he’s played for and he’s looking for a home and it’s something that might develop along the way.”

His move to Rovers came after his £43,000-a-week contract was cancelled by Sunderland after they were relegated to League One in June 2018.

He had joined Sunderland for £10million back in August 2014 from Manchester City.
