Footballers Phil Bardsley and Tom Cleverley involved with mass melee at Ibiza hotel

Burnley’s Phil Bardsley and Watford’s Tom Cleverley were involved with a mass melee that took place at an Ibiza hotel last week.

His Hornets teammates Andre Gray and Will Hughes, Manchester City’s John Stones, Kilmarnock’s Alex Bruce, Hull City’s Liam Ridgewell and Wes Brown were among those who attended the surprise birthday for Cleverley. Several headed out to clubs, others stayed for the hotel party.

However it turned nasty when chair were hurled, glasses were smashed and punches thrown between the footballers and guests celebrating the night before a wedding.

Bardsley – who once knocked out Wayne Rooney, apparently – had to be held back as his brother football agent Josh after he got involved in the brawl last Wednesday at 1am.

The football agent’s name was heard in a video obtained by The Sun on Sunday that showed Josh being hit over the head with beach shoes before getting a punch to the face.

Alex Bruce — son of Steve — along with Cleverley started talking to the wedding party who were drinking nearby.

An onlooker said: ‘Some of the people in the wedding group have friends who had attended Tom’s birthday party so the two groups mixed a bit.’

The fight is thought to have been sparked by two men from the wedding party who started speaking to a woman they knew from the birthday.

Josh Bardsley joined and, as said by one onlooker, said ‘something wrong’ causing one of the men to say ‘don’t speak to her like that’.

One hotel worker told The Sun on Sunday: “It was crazy. I’ve never seen anything like it. Chairs went flying, glasses were smashed, people punching one another.

“It started with just a few and then got bigger and bigger as more people joined in. I’m speechless.”

An eye-witness said: “It was mayhem. You don’t expect to see something like this on holiday, let alone in a five star hotel where people pay thousands to stay.

“It’s a beautiful venue and they trashed it.”

The bride-to-be watched the brawl and reportedly said: “It’s not been the best start”.

Hotel security rushed in then and shut the bar down before wedding guests then reportedly complained to hotel about the behaviour of the footballers.

After reading the story and watching the video of those in the melee, fans took to give their reaction with some choice words, others mocked it – find out what they said on the next page.
