Floyd Mayweather reveals which Premier League side he wants to buy in a question and answer session on Sunday after being rumoured in the media.
As we all know, the current Newcastle chief, Mike Ashley, has been trying to sell the club for the last few years, funnily enough always near a transfer window, could he have no found the ideal suitor in the heavyweight boxer?
Mayweather said: “In the U.S. we call it soccer, but the Newcastle football team is an unbelievable team,” the 43-year-old told the moderator when asked if he was interested in buying the Magpies, “A hell of a team.
“If the people want me to buy the Newcastle team, let me know.”
TMZ Sports later rang his representatives to see if he was being serious.
The American is interested in the buying a stake in the team, unknown how much of it, though no formal talks have taken place, for now at least.
He was linked with the club in March 2018, where he said: “You better believe if I were to invest in Newcastle I would be back partying there often.
“I love Newcastle. Those guys like to party as hard as any city I have been to anywhere in the world. I met some of the players last year – and they are good guys. I am always open to new business opportunities and I love all sports, but I invest with my head not my heart.
“Investing with your heart is the quickest way to lose money. But if somebody put together a business plan and my people looking over it and went ‘Floyd that can make money’ then I would invest. Soccer might not be my game but I’ve got connections everywhere.”
Mayweather is reported to be worth between $560 million and $1 billion with current Newcastle owner Ashley at a worth of $3.2 billion.

He might be the "money" but i dont think he has the wealth to purchase and invest in #NUFC it is one thing buying a club but we all want rid of ashley who has the cash but invests very little, imaging the scenes if we had an owner with nothing to invest #KeepTheCansInTheFridge
