We look at the favourites to become new MK Dons boss as they announce a new interim management team to be in charge for the next few weeks.
Milton Keynes Dons have sacked their head coach, Scott Lindsey, following a poor run of form that extended into early 2025.
The decision came after a defeat to Colchester United on Saturday, marking the team’s 11th loss in 16 League Two matches since mid-December.
During this period, MK Dons earned just nine points from a possible 48, with Lindsey winning just nine of 29 matches during his time in charge.
It causing them to drop to 17th in the table. Lindsey had been in charge for just over five months, having joined from League One side Crawley Town, who he guided to promotion.

In a further update: Milton Keynes Dons are pleased to announce a new interim management team who will oversee the side in the coming weeks.
Current First Team Coach and former MK Dons midfielder Ben Gladwin will take charge as interim Head Coach, having rejoined the club in October.
Ben will be joined by former Bournemouth midfielder and Welling United manager Jamie Day, who remains Assistant Head Coach.
Steve Hale will also continue as Goalkeeper Coach, with experience in the role at the likes of Exeter City and Walsall.
MK Dons are also pleased to welcome back former coach Ian Watson, who will be returning to Stadium MK to assist Ben and his team as First Team coach.
The club can now confirm the departure of First Team Coach Carl Laraman, who has left his role alongside Scott Lindsey.
MK Dons will now conduct an extensive and comprehensive interview process ahead of appointing a Head Coach to lead the team next season.
Everyone at Stadium MK is fully behind Ben, Jamie, Steve and Ian, and has every confidence in them ahead of a trip to Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night.
We encourage all our supporters to show their support for the new interim management team either on the road midweek or back at Stadium MK this weekend.

MK Dons Head Coach Scott Lindsey spoke on a ‘frustrating’ defeat against Colchester United, saying to MK Citizen:
“I live this club. Every minute, every moment, you only need to ask my family what this club and job mean to me. Where we are at the moment is crippling me.
“It is tough, but we have to keep going because in a minute, it can all change, and when it does, it will be good.
“We’ve got to stick together, including you guys with me, we’ve got to stick together. We want to get this club where it deserves to be, and at the moment we’re miles from that, but I’m prepared to work so hard for that to happen. And it will. We’re in a really bad spell. We’ve got to improve that, and I’m so aggressive to make that happen.
“You find out about people when things aren’t going so well, you find out about character, about togetherness, about sticking together. I think my lens has been widened when we’ve not been doing well. There are certain things we need to do. We’ve got to make sure the culture is right.”
He continued: “Over ten years, this club has had one promotion and three relegations, so we need to put that right, I’ve got to put that right.
“We have a new owner, who is really going to back us and will make this happen, and we’ve all got to work hard to make sure this is a good place to work and a good place to be, but at the moment it is not because of the results.
“It’s normal for it to feel like this because of the results, but we’re working so hard in order to have an environment where the players enjoy their work, and to make sure we win regularly. At the moment, I feel we’ve got that, but football makes you feel nervous, and at the moment it’s not happening.
“This club will be really successful. At the moment, we are where we are and there is a lot of hard work going on in order for it to change. And it will because there are too many good people here.”
Fans reacted amid the favourites to become new MK Dons boss as they announce a new interim management team…
@theWycombeWay: I can’t help but feel this was the worst thing you could have done despite the shite form. Bet the squad made up of his players will be buzzing he’s gone, the only reason they all joined your tinpot circus.
@CSadler94: I think he needed more time tbh. Maybe he could’ve done this differently no doubt, but perhaps a bit harsh. Just hope the next manager is able to hit the ground running and will be able to get a solid start to the next season, we can’t keep going though several managers a season
@pearcyyy: Another manager gone 🤦🏻♂️ 8 signings made in January for this manager. 15 in the summer for the previous manager. Whilst this fan base expects instant success, no manager will ever be successful here @MKDonsFC #MKDons
@SiWheeler78: Tell your Mum, Tell your Dad, Tell your Auntie, Tell your cousin, he’s not only the biggest manager in League Two but also the biggest manager in the Managerial Wilderness. The MK job appears to be a career ending move for most managers! Drop the Dons!
@jaseives: Think you’d be a lot better off parting company with the Dons at the end of your clubs name tbh.
@FalknerJosh: Oh Scott the grass is not always greener!!! And after spending all that money and trying to sign last years Crawley squad 🤣🤣🤣
@mikebromham: Surely the DofF has to go too. Poor poor squad building season after season
@Dan_Wxm: Dont worry you can just buy Crawley and move them to MK and you’d be a League 1 club
@edward_w97: Tell you what’s objectively funny, bringing in 4 players and the head coach from a team who dismantled you in last year’s Play-Offs, only to sit nowhere near the promotion places yourselves the following season. 1 win since New Year’s Day and only won twice since 3rd December…
@DanHedges_: Not been so shocked of us sacking a manager since Robbo, don’t agree with this one bit and I genuinely think he turned it round. I don’t know if somethings gone on behind the scenes but now the circus continues 😔 Luke Williams 🤞🏼
@Mattpie95: LW in, will sign Macca in the summer
@MKDONS_H: Here’s what’s gonna happen. Ian Evatt joins in the summer, and Ben Gladwin and Ian Watson stay on as a part of his staff. Both equipped with great knowledge of the squad to go into the summer and aid Evatt in the window. Written in the Stars. #mkdons
@MKDONS_H: Hopefully this also means that Ian Watson will stay on to be a part of the next managerial staff. Makes sense as his football aligns very closely with Ian Evatts
@mgingles79: Gills, MK Dons & Carlisle have 3 things in common. Lots of money, being bottom end of the league & going through managers like it’s going out of fashion! Pick a manager and give him time!!! #gills #mkdons #CUFC
