CLUB STATEMENT:
Cardiff City Football Club can confirm that Sabri Lamouchi will depart at the conclusion of his current deal.
Sabri joined the Bluebirds at the end of January 2023, overseeing 18 fixtures, and winning six matches. Cardiff City would like to thank Sabri for his efforts and contribution in helping us secure our place in the Championship for 2023/24 and wish him all the very best for the future.
The Board of Directors at Cardiff City FC have already begun the process of appointing a new management team.
– STATEMENT ENDS –
Cardiff were considering their future under Lamouchi for a couple of days, but it now looks like Tan has decided the club needs to take a new direction in terms of management… again.
Cardiff were grateful that Lamouchi was able to keep the Bluebirds in the Championship, finishing just one place above relegation and their position was saved by the six-point deduction that Reading were handed.
Tan, who had earlier this season got rid of Mark Hudson and Steve Morison, had brought in the Frenchman as manager with Cardiff legend Sol Bamba serving as his assistant on a temporary deal.
After Cardiff’s important victory over Rotherham, his stock has fallen with their tamely poor performance in the defeats against Huddesrfield & Burnley.
Lamouchi won six, drew twice and lost 10 of the 18 matches he was at the helm though, he did take over a squad of players largely devoid of confidence and many feel he deserve credit for achieving the target set.
FAVOURITES TO BECOME NEW CARDIFF MANAGER:
Nathan Jones – 2/1
Chris Wilder – 6/1
Danny Cowley – 10/1
Neil Critchley – 12/1
Steve Cotterill – 12/1
Gary Bowyer – 12/1
This is what fans are saying with the favourites to become new Cardiff manager revealed as the club sacks their boss Sabri Lamouchi after just avoiding relegation…
@TheNinianStand: A absolute disgrace not to give sabri a contract the man was brought in to achieve a goal 9f keeping Cardiff City in the championship he achieved this and majority of fans were happy with sabri and sol he got the most out of this mess of a squad back to square one this summer 🤬
@kiangreen8: Extremely disappointed but not surprised at all.. life as a Cardiff fan is just dull at the moment
@bobbankvillage: Appalling decision and no doubt down to budget. We’ll go cheap now and end up in the exact same predicament. There’s never a long term plan.
@timcliffsmith: Vincent Tan, just get out. Dreadful.
@BennetStone: 1 week to reserve your current season ticket for next season. Class marketing effort lads 🤣🤣🤣
@Jonno2601: That’s the season ticket not being renewed
@matthewjamesali: Wow. Did not expect this.
@Bluebirds36: I’m done with this club , should have been given a chance 💯
@Dawid29G_: Tan never fails to disappoint, wow.
@dylanowen22: We’re going down
@Anthony_Burns: Oh dear this is really bad news for us… who the heck will we get to work under Tan and the embargo that will be better… I wait
@Alex_Kerr9: My god we are a shambles of a club
@NigelBlues: Heard whispers hierarchy weren’t happy with his persona so got an inkling this was coming. I liked him but he also made poor selections, tactics, subs every single game which worried me. Did he give some home truths from him maybe didn’t please Tan? Sol & Warnock DoF incoming?
@CantonEndSR: What a shitshow of a club, Dalman, Choo, Tan….the lot of them are imbeciles when it comes to any knowledge of football. I wish they would all just do one, I have had a season ticket for almost 20yrs and never have I been so reluctant to renew. They are killing us.
@j_assidy: Another ridiculous decision from Tan and co. The club is a complete mess thanks to them. This and the whole Sala situation is a complete shitshow. Get rid of all three! Tan, Choo and Delman can fuck off! #cardiffcity
@DixonKeiran: Tan strikes again. Embarrassing
@callumcasteln: Howler of a decision. Saved them from relegation and would be a great manager to rebuild with. Real shame.
@ccfcinsiderr: I defend this board all the time even when I probably shouldn’t. But this is something I can’t defend. How have we bottled the best manager we’ve had in years.
@gard411: Hi @EFL, can we just skip next season and start off in league1 in August please? The club is crying out for an ounce of consistency, but Tan doesn’t understand that! What about transfer plans, preseason schedule etc? Ridiculous from Tan and them lot again.
@TonyRivers1927: So the idiot Tan believed all the unwarranted criticism of Lamouchi was justified enough not to provide the vital continuity needed. This will be the final nail. Congratulations all. Slow hand clap
@ThreeBluebirds_: Get out of the club Vincent, you absolute cretin
@georgelccfc: Nathan jones or we’re down, tan you are a complete clown if we go down next year the club might not exist for much longer
@mattyaztec: Joke of an owner bottom of the league incoming. 🙁
@AHBlueBirds: When will Tan ever learn, No managers are going to work miracles when there’s no budget to buy players to strengthen the squad. Every manger we’ve had so far has done thier best to keep us in the championship. No premiership at this rate.
@JofSharpy: ‘Already begun’ make sure it dosent take 3 months like last time. We need to act so that the new manager has time to implement his style and recruitment.
@Ryan_Lewis226: Absolutely ridiculous decision. He achieved his target, was loved by the fans, robbed of consistency yet again. This club is going head first into league 1, this appointment has to be right, it has to be Nathan Jones let’s be honest, if not then I really don’t know. Sort it !
@Jsnook2002: If it ain’t Nathan jones this will be what sends this club into a downward spiral
@Kieron_777: We are under a transfer embargo where we can only sign free agents. The best free agents are already being tapped up by other clubs, and we don’t even have a bleeding manager in place. What the hell is going on!!!
🚨 Sabri is GONE
Don’t really know where we go from here as a club, we needed consistency in management and we have been robbed of it again.
Players liked him, majority of fans did too even Dalman wanted him to stay 🤦♂️
Thank you for keeping us up 💙 pic.twitter.com/XticfTQYAg
