Favourites for Scunthorpe United manager

After Scunthorpe United recently sacked manager Nick Daws just four league games into the season, we’ve taken a look at who are favourites for the job at Glanford Park.

The chairman Peter Swann says he “made a mistake” in giving sacked manager Nick Daws the permanent job after his caretaker spell.

5th) STEVE COTTERILL

In March, chairman Peter Swann was confirmed interest in both Steve Cotterill and Steve McClaren.

In the last few days, it’s been reported that Scunthorpe have approached Cotterill about the vacancy but since then, Swann has revealed to BBC Humberside that he won’t be the new man in the dugout.

4th) SIMON GRAYSON

On various occasions within the last few months, Grayson has been tipped to become the new manager of the League One club.

He has been without a club since he was dismissed at Bradford City in May.

He’s also managed Sunderland, Preston, Huddersfield, Leeds and Blackpool.

3rd) PAUL HECKINGBOTTOM

Another manager who at some point in the last few days has been a favourite for the job.

Heckingbottom has been out of a job since June after being sacked after just four months by Leeds United.

He’s also managed Barnsley, where he won the League Trophy and promotion via the League One playoffs, both in the 2015/16 season.
