Favourites for Scotland manager – Former Prem and EFL bosses and players named

After the departure of Alex McLeish from the Scotland job yesterday afternoon we’ve taken a look at who are favourites for the job at Hampden Park.

The decision was agreed collectively by the board with McLeish following a shocking 3-0 defeat to Kazakhstan and beat San Marino just 2-0.

The former Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Rangers, Hibernian and Motherwell boss was in charge of his second spell with national team for 12 matches, but lost 7 of them.

Take a look at who are the top six favourites below and on the next page.

Derek McInnes is the current manager of Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen.

He has previously managed Bristol City and St Johnstone but also played for Greenock Morton, Rangers, Stockport, Toulouse, West Brom, Dundee United, Millwall and St Johnstone.

Sam Allardyce has managed England on an international level, however left his job after one game due to the 2016 Daily Telegraph investigation.

His other managerial jobs includes Limerick (player-manager, won League of Ireland First Division 1991/92), Preston (caretaker), Blackpool, Notts County (won Third Division 1997/98), Bolton (won First Division playoffs 2001), Newcastle, Blackburn, West Ham (won Championship playoffs 2012), Sunderland, Crystal Palace and most recently Everton.

He tends to have his say on being linked with manager jobs in the past, so it will be interesting to see whether he’ll be on a radio show or talking with Sky Sports over the next few weeks.

Current odds on Sky Bet: 12/1

Clarke, the current Kilmarnock boss, is reportedly ‘under consideration’ for the Fulham job.

According to the Express, there are still “influential figures” who rate the 55-year-old.

They previously approached him back in 2015, with different owners back then, but he turned them down.

Other clubs he had managed or been a caretaker/assistant of are Newcastle, Chelsea, West Ham, Liverpool, West Brom, Reading and Aston Villa.

Current odds on Sky Bet: 8/1
