Fans urge Harrogate Town to change their ‘awful’ new home kit

Fans have chosen to urge newly promoted Harrogate Town to change their ‘awful’ new home kit, with the reaction going down badly.

The new strip is made by New Balance, who were excitedly announced by the League Two side as their Official Kit Supplier for the 2020/21 season.

The majority of the kit is the main club’s colour yellow with black shorts and socks, however it’s the sponsor that’s getting many riled up.

It made it’s debut in a behind closed doors pre-season friendly against Championship outfit Middlesbrough’s under 23s team.

The Harrogate Town AFC crest is placed on one side of the breast with the white NB (New Balance) logo on the other breast, sitting on top of two black vertical lines going from the collar bone down to the bottom of the shirt.

The shirt cuffs are black along with the collar and black coloured square detail on both sleeves. The front shirt sponsor is a big red square with the company name ‘strata’ placed in the middle.

But because of how it sits and looks from a distance, it really just doesn’t work, especially compared to the home kit they had last season, which was stripes from the bottom of the shirt fading up.

Take a look at how the giant red square works on previous designs compared to this season, with this tweet from the much followed Twitter account Kit Crimes…

Details are yet to be published on the club’s official website or club store, including the pricing, however, should the design remain, then we can’t see it selling out very well even if it is Harrogate first ever kit in the English Football League.
