Fans have chosen to urge newly promoted Harrogate Town to change their ‘awful’ new home kit, with the reaction going down badly.
The new strip is made by New Balance, who were excitedly announced by the League Two side as their Official Kit Supplier for the 2020/21 season.
The majority of the kit is the main club’s colour yellow with black shorts and socks, however it’s the sponsor that’s getting many riled up.

It made it’s debut in a behind closed doors pre-season friendly against Championship outfit Middlesbrough’s under 23s team.
The Harrogate Town AFC crest is placed on one side of the breast with the white NB (New Balance) logo on the other breast, sitting on top of two black vertical lines going from the collar bone down to the bottom of the shirt.
The shirt cuffs are black along with the collar and black coloured square detail on both sleeves. The front shirt sponsor is a big red square with the company name ‘strata’ placed in the middle.
But because of how it sits and looks from a distance, it really just doesn’t work, especially compared to the home kit they had last season, which was stripes from the bottom of the shirt fading up.
Take a look at how the giant red square works on previous designs compared to this season, with this tweet from the much followed Twitter account Kit Crimes…
? Fair to say Harrogate Town’s new shirt has not received a positive response, mainly due to the giant red square.
It was on their previous shirts, but it integrated much better. pic.twitter.com/Hebd9CkGwz

Details are yet to be published on the club’s official website or club store, including the pricing, however, should the design remain, then we can’t see it selling out very well even if it is Harrogate first ever kit in the English Football League.
As mentioned, fans urge Harrogate Town to change their ‘awful’ new home kit, take a look at those tweets below…

As you know I’ve been rather excited in anticipation of this shirt – could I provide some constructive feedback please. Aside from the comments in here, it’s actually very close to being a really, REALLY nice shirt. All you need is a final central set & it transforms the shirt ⚽️ pic.twitter.com/4ZjbnG3Xju

How out of place does that look ??

I’m no fan of this new kit but if you’re referring to that black slash nightmare of a shirt I’d have to disagree about Borussia Dortmund. It’s enough to bring on epilepsy.

Prime example of a logo just not looking right on a kit ?

Looks a bit Lederhosen to me, but so long as they can play in it… pic.twitter.com/NrKbhZgA60

Wow, absolutely shocking that.

That sponsor looks dreadful on the kit

Sponsors horrendous

Honestly Town, I love ya but do something about that kit while you still can. Get NB to make another one quickly. It’s awful. Last season’s Kappa was amazing.
I hope the away one is ok.— Seabassdahornet (@seabassdahornet) August 21, 2020
Still got the away kit to see yet????
— Jacob Rhodes (@JacobRh42346242) August 21, 2020
you better hope you have a red away kit
— Stephen McKay (@ABR_Boom) August 21, 2020
Take away that sponsor and that is a smart kit
— Bfclee53 (@bfclee53) August 21, 2020
That sponsor is awful!!! Why would you have it so massive!!! It’s a travesty
— Karl Green (@LincolnMariner) August 21, 2020
yikes, really excited for the season but last years shirt was far better, how did the designer allow for the clash of the sponsor logo, disappointing but I’ll get over it ?
— Russell Watson (@RussellWatson) August 21, 2020
Hard for me to say but envious of the way this Club is run,but this kit is awful especially red Sponsor in the middle.
— Steve Dunn (@Stevedunn91Dunn) August 21, 2020
That has to one of the worst shirts I’ve ever seen in 35 years of watching football.

@HarrogateTown its not too late ? pic.twitter.com/1LdMWqP00b

Now, I’m glad to see Harrogate in the EFL, and they seem a nice club, but jesus they have really should get that home kit changed. The sponsor logo is just plain ugly. Way too big, colours doesn’t go with the shirt, doesn’t sit right. A slight adjustment and watch the sales come!
