Fans thrilled as Frickley sign ex-Rotherham, Lincoln and Peterborough star

Fans have been left thrilled as Frickley Athletic sign ex-Rotherham, Lincoln City and Peterborough United star Lee Frecklington.

The Northern Premier League Division One South East outfit confirmed the news on Tuesday morning, and it’s prove to have gone down well online.

Frickley issued a rather amusing but top quality from the heart statement, with midfielder Lee becoming the second Frecklington at the club, with manager Dave Frecklington already in charge at Westfield Lane.

CLUB STATEMENT:

The New Signing Klaxon has passed it’s MOT & we are DELIGHTED to announce the signing of Lee Frecklington!!!

That’s right, 1 Frecklington isn’t enough for us, we’ve got 2 – there is no truth in the rumour that we are being renamed Freckley Athletic…..

Lee is nephew to the Gaffer & they have actually played together whilst at Stamford. However his career has been pretty exclusively in the Football League (500+ appearances) for Peterborough, Rotherham United (pictured) & Lincoln City – which included a few Wembley victories. During that time he also gained an international B cap for the Republic of Ireland.

I was going to include a picture of him in a Posh shirt but doctors have advised that it would be too much for Ken Whiteheads heart to withstand….

He’s a serial promotion winner – & that bodes very well for our upcoming season!!

We fought off a LOT of competition to secure Lee’s signature – which says a lot about him & a lot about our plans for the future which he has bought into.

We hope to bring you an interview with the new boy & also the thoughts of the Gaffer in the next day or so, so keep your eyes on our socials.

This is just the first…..you are going to be very excited!!

#FORZAFRICKLEY
