Fans suggest a number of ideas to try and help save non league club Lowestoft Town, who face an uncertain future.

Earlier this week, the club chairman said without urgent investment, the long-term future of the 8th tier club is in doubt.

A GoFundMe donation page has been set up, set up by Iain Small, with £3,200 raised so far, and a target of £100,000 set to help rebuild the club.

The Trawlerboys, who are currently sit 17th in the Isthmian League North Division table with 7 points from 8 games played, warn that significant debts threaten their existence.

YouTuber Fusion Josh has posted a video on a club that means a lot to him, helping raise awareness, in a bid to keep his club alive for years to come.

He said in the video description: “A sad situation is unfolding at my local non-league football club as the future is uncertain as they’re in significant debt.

“I want us as a community to help as much as we can, any ideas are welcome and any investors would be extremely incredible.

In the video itself, he said: “My local non-league club is dying and it needs some serious help. Lowestoft Town released a statement stating the existence of the club is under threat being in significant debt. It’s soul destroying really.

“This club it’s one of the biggest clubs in East Anglia and yet it’s in the difficult is for context.

“Lowestoft Town, founded in 1887, have made it as high as the National League North and have played at Wembley in an FA Vase final in 2008.

“There’s so much history a loyal fan base who are passionate and volunteers who are the heartbeat of the club.

“In that statement, it says, ‘Without urgent investment, the long-term future of our proud club is in doubt.’

“It doesn’t look good, and it hasn’t for a while.

“From the pin badges and stickers I sell, I’ve always said I’d put 25% of the profits towards helping non-league clubs.

“And in this situation, I have confirmed a free match match ball sponsor for the next three home games thanks to you and your support. I don’t want to go down without a fight. This needs exposure, people through the gate, and spending in stadium.

“I mean, a big investor would be fantastic, too. I heard the Coventry owner is from Lowestoft. Doug King. Please help us out. 140 years of history could be gone very soon.”

He speaks of the financial situation that faces them, what a typical matchday experience is like there, what the club needs in order to survive.

“Not much investment has been gone into this because quite frankly, I don’t think there has been the money there to put it in place…”

“…even taking a walk around the ground, you can tell the modernisation needs to be in place, but the resources aren’t there to kind of do so.

“So, investments needed. I’m going to be using that word a lot, but it’s the truth. A football club with 140 years of history and not much has really changed with the grounds probably since it first began.

“I like to think with all the grounds I go to, I kind of know what’s good, what’s not and like investments in terms of like a new barriers all across the place.

“And that is obviously a massive massive expense. But if you want to modernise a football club, these are the sort of changes you’ve got to make.

“But then again, you need thousands and thousands of pounds to actually put this in place. So it’s really tough for a team like Lowestoft to kind of spend that money.

“All it takes is one big investor to take a punt into Lowestoft Town. And this place can really change.”

“50/50 draws are a great way for non-league clubs to make money, especially just putting in a fiver. Half of that goes to the club and half of that you could be winning.

“At the end of the day, it’s a win-win for the club. If I pan this around, I think we all know where the investment can be made. And I would love to do more. I’ve been thinking and going on walks this week, walking the dog, just thinking, what can I do to help Lowestoft Town Football Club, what I’ve done, especially for this game too, for the next two home games after this. I’m the match ball sponsor. That was 50 quid per game. Going on them walks the other day, it was just making me thinking how I can help.

“Making this video hopefully the exposure people can help Lowestoft by either donating, buying shirts, scarves, the GoFundMe page, which I’ve created, because to put it simply, they really need the support and help or otherwise this football club could die. I don’t like saying that word whatsoever, but we’ve also got to express the truth, too.

“Trust me, folks, if I had hundreds of thousands of pounds, I would love to change this place up, make my own improvements.

“What if we got sponsors on board where they can invest in this ground? I don’t know if people can just donate things which could enhance this football stadium. I know football clubs in the past have like donated seats, they’ve donated stands. Why can’t other clubs if they’ve wanted to get rid of their own stands?

“Why can I just like donate it here? Is there a way as a community on these videos to just help this football club out? And that’s something I’m really trying to look into.”

@TalkNorwichCity: This is so sad to see. We all need to rally around our local clubs, once they’re gone they’re gone.

@RandomDudeOYT: Got to make it a family night out, beer garden, fan zones. Incremental revenue. Covered areas for the rainy nights. £10 is better price than £11. Match presentation is big. Ask for “community days” where you pick a specific project and ask the community to help fix/renovate that stand/wall/etc. Put out/ask local community artists for painting specific areas. Then do trade deals for paint with local hardware stores for painting other areas. That main stand isn’t named/sponsored. Why not trade a naming/sponsor for construction materials and paint? Win/win for both parties. Once you can get the facility into better shape you can get more eyeballs.

@Oiiimush: Player wages have spiralled in non league in recent years. Clubs need to stop paying it, especially while their own infrastructure is crumbling. Visited Lowestoft last season with Brightlingsea. Received a warm welcome & good, friendly banter with the locals. Nice club.

@paranormalshadow9736: my local club had the same issue, maybe worth looking at making it a supporter owed club? if iy has a big fan base it would bring in a constant stream of money and also the fans who “own” the club maybe more willing to put there time into painting and doing the little odd jobs when matches aren’t being played.

@ParkToWembley: Sometimes Josh, the platform is bigger than the money. Could be worth looking at getting involved in the club and maybe assisting them with their socials to increase eyes on them.

@jonsmithUC: The club absolutely needs a root and branch re-think. The Love Road ground needs a serious upgrade, or is it actually better now to finally seek the persons/ investment needed for a much talked about move to a modern and sustainable facility?
