Supporters from the non league community have been left shocked after finding out that Ashford United have sacked manager Gary Alexander by text.
It came after the former Hull, Millwall, Brentford and Leyton Orient striker’s side picked up a win the previous day, smashing four goals past Herne Bay to win 4-1 and climb up to 7th in the Isthmian League South East Division.

ASHFORD UNITED CLUB STATEMENT:
Ashford United manager Gary Alexander has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect, the club can confirm with the search for a new manager now underway.
Assistant Manager John Mackie and physio Huseyin Torgut will also leave their positions with immediate effect.
Commenting on the departures, Chairman Derek Pestridge and the Board of Directors said: “This decision has been made in the best interests of the club. We would like to thank Gary, John and Hus for their efforts this season.
“The club now invites any interested applicants to get in touch. We will be making no further comment until we reach a decision on Gary’s replacement.”
