Fans sing cheeky chants as Wolves beat West Ham 3-0 for first win of season after 19 attempts

Fans inside Molineux sing a number of cheeky chants as Wolves beat West Ham 3-0 for their first win of the season after 19 attempts.

Jhon Arias put Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead just 4 minutes in following dreadful defending by West Ham, struggling to deal with Hwang Hee-Chan’s square ball and an unmarked Arias got his first goal of the season.

Then on the 30 minute mark, Mateus Mane was deemed to have been fouled inside the box by Soungoutou Magassa, VAR looked an a penalty was awarded. Hwang rolled the ball down the middle and past Alphonse Areola.

Then before half time, Mane, with a turn and finish, made it 3-0 to make West Ham look like the bottom side.

There were chants from Wolves fans of “We’re gonna win the league”, “Nuno Espirito Santo, he’s one of our own!”, “Nuno give us a wave” and “”You’re nothing special, we’ll see you next year”.

Wolves boss Rob Edwards, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “We have been improving and progressing and you saw that today. It is another step in the right direction, that is all it was and it is nice it has culminated in a win.

“It was a complete performance. I feel we are progressing and building in the right way. We have had a good week with four points.

“The lads have been all in. Big credit to them and huge credit for the supporters, that was for them today.

“Football is always stressful and with 30 seconds to go I started allowing myself the chance to enjoy it.”

On Mane: “It has given everyone a lift, you can hear the fans singing his name. We have to make sure we look after him. He has had a really impressive couple of weeks and it was a fantastic goal today. He has a great attitude. He will take risks at the right time but at the same time he is all about the team. He has been really impressive so far.”

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo speaking to Sky Sports: “It was a poor performance. Our first half was very bad, not much to say only to apologise to our fans, nobody expected us to perform so bad.”

Lack of reaction after the first goal: “In previous games we’ve been able to react and to come back from our mistakes but today, no. It was the consequences of our mistakes over and over again that dictated the result.”

Lack of leadership in West Ham’s squad: “Everybody needs to think and reflect and question ourselves. It’s about actions, it’s been very bad, very bad.”

How do West Ham turn things around: “We try to recover the players, the better that we can physically. We have to talk we have to realise the situation. We need much more from everybody.”

Are West Ham in must win territory: “Of course, we need points. We need points to get out of this situation.”

Wolves’ Hee-Chan Hwang speaking to Sky Sports: “I love Rob Edwards, I like this coach tactically. I want to learn good football but since day one he has taught us good tactical things.

“I want to be an important player. He explained very well, I can understand what he wants, not just me, all the players. He arrived just six, seven weeks ago.”

West Ham’s Konstantinos Mavropanos: “We want to apologise to our fans. They don’t deserve this, it was unacceptable especially the first half. We have to work hard.. We have to realise the situation we are in and work harder. There is only one way to solve this situation and it is up to us.

“We understand their frustrations. When we concede three goals like this it is normal they react like this. That is why I am saying we have to apologise.

“We have to show what we really can do because I don’t think this team deserves to be in this situation. It is up to us.”

Wolves’ Mateus Mane speaking to Sky Sports: “When I hear the fans sing my name it makes me want to do more for them.

“It’s our first win but we’re not done yet, we want to get higher and higher. I’ve had friends and family watching here today which felt amazing.”

Here’s how social media users reacted as fans sing cheeky chants while Wolves beat West Ham 3-0 for their first win of season after 19 attempts…

@808Slates: That’s one hell of a monkey off our backs.. Fantastic win boys fan bloodytastic.. New Year clean slate and the lads made the most of it!! #WWFC

@Batesy1795: Whipped, pants pulled down, zero shots on target 🤣 Well played lads, quality stuff, wow, you seriously are in trouble

@OldWolfie75: @WOLVES HAVE A WIN 🚨 Mane MOTM. Unbeaten 2026. Nuno is a Wolves fan. 6 points to beat Derby’s record (whisper it….12 points behind Forest) 🤎🖤🐺 #wwfc

@MrPauloGoodman: Happy for Rob, happy for some of the players. Embarrassing it’s taken an 18 year old from the academy to show some of the Senior pros what fight is. Couple more days like this between now and end of season hopefully gives us some confidence in Championship #wwfc

@Wolfpack1198: Wolves fan in peace – i feel bad for your fans. Sullivan has sucked all the passion out of your club like fosun has with us. Hope you can stay up 🙏

@mitchdavis_1: Jarrod Bowen got schooled by Hugo Bueno today. Anonymous! Mane made the West Ham players look Amateur and Arias was everywhere. Tolu the target man we need. +3 Strong team in the cup too please Rob #wwfc

@robbiexmeakin: At the 20th time of asking, Wolverhampton Wanderers have won a 2025/26 Premier League fixture! 3 points, 3 goals and a clean sheet. 👏🏻 It was like watching a different team! Where has that quality been all season?#WOLWHU #WWFC #Wolves

@Jayallanents: Can we skip the posting of interviews later saying how much the players are hurting & how they will react on Tuesday? Let everyone forget about that shower of shite & enjoy their Saturday night!!

@whuchr: I expect the next tweet to be Nuno parting ways. Don’t want bs interviews of Bowen and Nuno saying we need to improve, sack him now, strip the captaincy and if we’re going down put people with some character or at-least a pulse in charge. 0, ZERO, shots on target against Wolves.

@Lazy_Shit_: First time I’ve ever truly questioned Nuno for the sack. 3-0 down at HT we sub on 2 defensive players. Then don’t create anything for the rest of the half without making a single substitution. Try Earthy, try pablo. At least try something rather than service us up 0 hope.

@medgewilkins: No shots on target against the worst premier league team in history – we are West Ham! The laughing stock of football!

@baracca47: Just to let you know: us fans still care about this club even if some of you guys don’t. No shots on target is inexplicable.

@billycurwood1: Sack Nuno now. First time he gives Wilson 90 mins is the game we sign a striker and leaves him on the bench. We are so fucked. Bowen needs to fucking drop the captaincy too. Championship and a reset inbound.

@LiamMcGee1998: Fucking disgraceful – the clubs soul was ripped out in 2015 but most people don’t even care now which is the worst part about this shit show get the clowns out of this club now

@racingtrade:
Toothless.
Pathetic.
No fight.
No urgency.
No desire.
No ideas.
No passion.
No shots on target.
This isn’t my club.
What the fucking hell was that West Ham?
