Fans have been left disappointed as Neil Warnock makes surprise Middlesbrough revelation following on from his exit from the club.
A video has been uploaded with the 72-year-old revealing that he knew prior to Saturday’s game that his 15-month stay at the Riverside Stadium outfit was set to end.
He also clarifies he hasn’t officially retired from football management and insists his mid-season departure could see him get another job elsewhere.

His final match in charge of Boro was a 1-1 draw against West Brom, and confirmation came of him leaving was almost instantly after the full time whistle, with him since being replaced by former Sheffield United manger Chris Wilder who was in attendance for an Under-23’s fixture on Sunday.
Warnock’s time at Middlesbrough saw him keep the club in the 2019/20 season followed by a 10th place Championship finish the following season. He adds that he enjoyed his time at the club, which was a job he always wanted.
Following the announcement of his departure, Warnock said: “I’ve had a great time and I am proud. The fans were amazing. Just look at them today.
“You have a couple who moan which you always get. But you look at us today and we had such a small squad with kids on the bench.
“It’s such a competitive league. But the fans have been great.
“We’ve had some good times here, some frustrating times as well because I know we should be up there, but that’s life.”
Boro have failed to win in their last four fixtures, however still sit just four points adrift of the top six. Despite this, Warnock admitted he had been told he would be leaving the club before his match-up against The Baggies.
“I was told this morning that I was leaving the club today,” he revealed.
“They’re going in a different direction, which is their prerogative, [Chairman] Steve [Gibson]’s prerogative. They’ve got someone to come in, I’ve had his name mentioned the last few weeks.”
“I’m disappointed in the fact that I felt that, apart from Steve, I haven’t had much support at the club, bringing players in.
“I can see that they want to look further than this season, but I think if I’d have had support behind the scenes I think we could’ve done it [achieved promotion] this season.
Warnock has always maintained the possibility of calling it a day at the end of the season, however, now his mid-season exit has forced him to think otherwise.
He added: “You never say never. I thought this season would be my end, but it’s not the end of the season is it?
“It’s only November, so you just never know.”
As mentioned, some fans have been left disappointed as Neil Warnock makes a surprise Middlesbrough revelation on his exit…
Just shows how shit our club is… gotta feel sorry for Warnock… shit by @boro as usual pic.twitter.com/CgJz0MMt1H

@MrRadford7: Unbelievable, yet sadly believable.
@ollie_skyrme: Feel for him me
@guvpaul1: I question if gibbo has lost control of the club he says he has took a step back and the transfers have been slow so we have missed players. Bausor and co have to go gibbo needs to take back control from these arseholes @Boro #UTB
@sim__and: Imagine my shock that Steve Gibson is a smarmy cancerous prick. take your fucking legal battle with Derby County elsewhere. You had an issue with Mel, not Derby County
@JayShaw180: “Only found out this morning by reading the papers” yet he’s known for two or three weeks? The club is rotten behind the scenes and has been for years, but Warnock isn’t as much of a victim as is being made out. He should’ve been gone weeks ago but was kept on to get his record.
@MassyArceri: Blessed to have had Warnock at our club. Will only have fond memories of Warnock as the Boro Manager. Gutted to see him go like this.
@rossutb88: Bauser. Twat.
@bailscd: Very poor and disrespectful from us by the looks of it
@LukeyJohal: No class from Gibson, as per.. 😳
@_BourneIdentity: Maybe Steve Gibson should be more hands on re signings – as Warnock says he used to be – and less hands on focussing on Derby with the EFL and law suits.
@wheatmann5477: A man that for 6 months has blamed everyone barring himself for everything that’s gone wrong, a squad that has never been good enough for him is now 3 players away, a very bitter and unfortunate way for him to leave, amazed people still believe his bollocks to be honest #Boro
@nobbsta: So wilder knew 3 weeks he was getting warnock the sack 🤔
@redarmy32: Absolutely disgusting from Steve gibson he should be ashamed of himself and anyone that wants to argue with that can fuck off
@smudge7723: Warnock deserved better, sounds like gibson has no say anymore, and the club is being ran by faceless arseholes behind the scenes, absolutely shocking.
@sw4nie: Hopefully Bausor is the next to go!
@janemcastor: Deserved to leave with a bit more dignity. Can’t believe how gracious, honest and dignified he was.
@sitheman25: He said in the same interview that he had known for weeks they were bringing in someone else. He was almost a caretaker manager and told this morning that the new man was in. I think it lacked a certain class but hoping it prompts some comms from the club which is vital.
@RyanGutteridge: We were obviously never going to give him loads of cash when we knew he wasn’t going to be here next season anyway. We either kept him out of sentiment or we changed when the right man came along to take the club forward long term. Harsh but the right call.
@NavrinSidhu: Gibson’s too busy worrying about Derby than focusing all his time on his own club.
@jonathanbye1: You either get results and no excuses or no results with lots of excuses. He’s the master at blaming everyone else. Best wishes to him but we could and should be doing better; it’s the right decision and the right time.
@taylor198269: Gibson & Bausor 🐍 no one deserves to be replaced behind their back. Have the balls to have face to face.
@mcf4rl4ne: When everyone else has come and gone he’s the one who’s needed to be binned off before everyone. Awful signing. Not sure what he even does, apart from since he’s been here we’ve been tinpot at everything we do, on and off the pitch.
@mcf4rl4ne: Not sure how much longer @Boro can get away with being a ‘great club’. If this is true then we’re nowhere near being great. We’re tinpot at best. Oddly enough our best period of tinpot has been since Neil Bausor was in charge and Steve Gibson permanently absent. Poor.
@stumoz73: “Steve supported me but I never got the backing” fuck me isn’t it Gibson’s club? He’s not interested anymore, letting the likes of Bausor run it, is only gonna go 1 way
@JamesPoole10: The change was probably needed but off the pitch behaviour has sadly been lacking. Embarrassingly bad form. After 1600 games he deserved more respect. #mfc #utb #boro
@theobald_sue: Dignified interview , Can’t have been easy
@Geoffre77831787: The club has been a shambles for a long time. And it all traces back to the very top I’m afraid.
@GrassrootsPaul1: Warnock has been great for us. Warnock and Gibson worked closely together so even though surprised Wilder’s availability and a longer term plan is a business decision not a sentimental one which is best for our club 🔴⚪️ “In Gibson We Trust” #UTB
@PaulSpooney: Agree, timing is perfect, 2 week break & before Jan TW. Too many managers we’ve failed to pull the trigger fast enough. We’ve got a few months & a transfer window for the new manager to work & possibly go for a promotion push which looked way out of reach under NW.
@genostaff: Mate warnocks just excuse after excuse
