With it being the final episode of Match of the Day for the season, the BBC put out their Goal of the Season poll for fans to vote on.
Along with the goals galore highlights show, they showed six of the best goals from the 2018/19 season and let the viewers pick their overall favourite.
The six options and their results were as follows:
6TH: 1% – Andre Schurrle – Burnley v FULHAM – Saturday 12th January

2ND: 27% – Vincent Kompany – MANCHESTER CITY v Leicester – Monday 6th May

1ST: 29% – Andros Townsend – Man City v CRYSTAL PALACE – Saturday 22nd December

However, the final decision went to pundits Alan Shearer, Ian Wright and Gary Lineker who went for Vincent Kompany’s goal.
Ian Wright said: “I quite like Andros Townsend because of the difficulty of strike and it was magnificent.
“But then Vincent Kompany’s significance of the strike.”
Alan Shearer said: “I think Vincent Kompany, the brilliance, the importance, the timing, so I think Vincent Kompany.”
After confusion thinking it was one a piece, Ian then corrected Gary in saying he in the end went for Vincent, before Lineker then admitted he would have gone from Kompany’s anyway as you can see in the video below…
