After learning that Liverpool FC have attempted to trademark the word ‘Liverpool’, the name of a city, fans took to slam the Reds’ plans but also reveal how ridiculously complex this could all become…
Disgusting, we as a business are persecuted by them constantly, they have now even copyrighted the phrase “6 times” madness

It’s more complex than that. The commercial nature of modern football has lead to all clubs TM their brand. Applaud the community clubs and their use of close brand association to the club/city they once supported but there needs to be an recognisable difference between the clubs

Not to mention Liverpool County FA, Liverpool Football College, Liverpool University Football teams, AFC Liverpool, South Liverpool and countless amateur teams who use the name of the City

@BBCSport @SkySportsNews I hope this is going to be reported on .this disgraceful from them but again I'm not surprised that a club that has social cleansing to its neighbours as policy. #Toryreds

I hope you won.
I bet the BBC didn't report on those tactics by #LFC

That's be the end of the Liverpool County League, Liverpool FA, Liverpool University's football teams…

@usualsuspect65: I’m a lifelong LFC fan and regular match-goer, but I’ll gladly contribute towards any legal fees you incur in fighting this. It’s ridiculous and not what @LFC should be doing.
@cmottram26: Not like Liverpool FC to screw over residents of Liverpool ?
@avrofc: Well done to all at CoLFC who are fighting this ????????
@ColinHiggins6: @lfc should be supporting clubs like this not trying to make life difficult for them
@barroldinho1: I’d normally defend LFC as failure to enforce your trademark in one instance can harm your ability to do so later. But despite their profile, their name is so generic that this seems unreasonable. They shouldn’t get exclusive rights to have the city in their name.
@nanjayman: I’m sure no one will ever get City of Liverpool FC and Liverpool FC mixed up. What a disgrace the latter find the need to flex their muscle to try and make the title Liverpool theirs. Shameful.
