Fans accuse Ivan Toney of disrespecting Brentford again as he discusses ‘ideal’ next move

Fans accuse Ivan Toney of disrespecting Brentford again as he discusses his ‘ideal’ next move in signing for European giants.

Ivan Toney has expressed his willingness to be sold by Brentford this summer, stating that it will be “all good” if the club decides to let him go.

The talented forward is seeking new opportunities and has attracted interest from top clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea as the transfer window approaches.

However, Toney remains focused on his current responsibilities at Brentford who are currently involved in a relegation battle, sitting just five points above the bottom three with ten games remaining in the season.

Since his return from a betting ban in January, Toney has been in impressive form, scoring four goals in nine Premier League appearances.

He is determined to finish the season on a positive note with Brentford and potentially leave a lasting impact on the club.

In an interview with Sky Sports before the match against Burnley, Toney acknowledged his readiness to depart from the club in the summer but emphasised that he has several personal goals he wants to achieve before making a move.

During an interview with Sky Sports, Toney was asked to describe his perfect end to the season and said: “We start winning games; we win every game for the rest of the season. I’ve scored 20 goals [laughs]. I think there’s nine games left maybe, so we’ve kept nine clean sheets. Job’s a good’un.”

He was then asked the same question, regarding the summer before being pressed on a potential transfer. He added: “I’m in the mix for the Euros and then we win the Euros. Let things fall into the place. If Brentford were to sell me, they’d make their money, I move to Madrid and it’s all good.”

Toney has previously expressed a desire to play for a top club. Back in January, he told Sky Sports in a separate interview: “You can never predict when is the right time to move elsewhere, but I think it’s obvious I want to play for a top club. Everybody wants to play for a top club, that is fighting for titles.

“Whether it’s this January that is the right time for a club to come in and pay the right money, who knows? But my main focus is to do what I do on the pitch, and let the background work take care of itself.

“To be the best, you have to play with the best and compete against the best. We all know Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world and he’s been doing it for some years now. If I want to be England’s No 1, then I have to compete against him.

“He’s not a bad striker to be taking tips off and be training with. I just have to keep scoring goals, keep playing well and then who knows what could happen? If I just fall short, then hopefully I can become the second best in the world.”

Fans accuse Ivan Toney of disrespecting Brentford again as he discusses ‘ideal’ next move…

@mh_bfc: Brentford fans have to be sick of him at this point surely

@only_zaman: This guy hates Brentford 😀😅never known a player to speak so highly on leaving and open

@rjb_1998: At what point does a hilarious amount of self confidence become delusion

@SSE_LTFC: Everytime this man talks, I somehow like him even less.

@SMMiller14: More front than Blackpool Promenade this fella, imagine being banned for the best part of a year for gambling, having your wages paid in full and reiterating your desire to leave for the 99th time at the earliest opportunity

@lukebfc_: ivan toney shut ur fuckin gob for 0.5 seconds challenge: impossible

@LeesLogan: Christ, his ego needs knocking down a peg or 2. Let’s have it right, he should have been nowhere near the England squad. Dom Solanke was robbed 😂

@mitchytucker7: Does this bloke ever have a day off 😂 Never seen an ego like it

@1886_blog: In every interview, Toney talks about leaving Brentford. It’s pretty disrespectful to the club that stood by him, whilst he was suspended for making multiple bets against them. I can see why Arsenal quickly lost interest in him.

@GBFC98: A club who has stood by him and he is completely disrespectful about it. Fuck right off.

@Gideoomatic: I kinda see why clubs aren’t lining up to sign him now, weird behaviour all round

@HamImages: I don’t think there are many players more openly mercenary than Ivan Toney. It must be hard being a Brentford fan, how do you get behind someone like him who is always disrespectful to to the club, but is such a good player.

@freelander97: Biggest game of our season and this is coming out. Guess it was too much to expect him just to keep quiet for 5 months and focus on his job

@Ben88spurs: The level of disrespect is unbelievable. Wouldn’t want him anywhere near my club

@always_benji: I’d be pissed off if I was a Brentford fan. I think it’s disrespectful to talk like this when he’s still under contract and no one to date has stumped up the money they want.

@WelBeast: This brother talks about leaving Brentford in every interview. No respect at all for his club.

@SammStoreyy94: Surely what club is going to look at him when this is the sort of attitude he has, good player but I’d hate to have him in the Newcastle dressing room

@GingerPirlo_: This fella is at it again! There’s never been a player openly take the piss out of his club like this, ever 😅

@AlfieNicholson_: I know he’s joking but I’ve never seen a player push for a move this much, this publicly and not get a media pushback. Ironically he’s driving his price down by the minute for Brentford, losing them money 🤯

@jason_connolly: I will never get Brentford fans passiveness towards this guy’s blatant disrespect towards them. Especially when they all jumped on Ollie Watkins for pointing at someone who was giving him abuse after he scored, chatting about how he ‘disrespected the club who made him’ lol

@TheSullis: This guy thinks he’s a lot better than he is

@Matt280994: His ego is awful and his attitude towards Brentford is disgusting

@captainstaino: Just to confirm this is a player who’s 28 and has less then 40 top flight goals?

@LouisL38: I would hate if he played for my club, regardless if he’s a good player

@nffcalways1: This guys ego is huge, no loyalty to Brentford after they stood by him, all he’s done since his ban finished is try to engineer a move

@FootballSpot__: You’d think this guy was being held hostage the way he always talks about leaving Brentford in every interview.

@JamesPearson25: I wouldn’t sign a player talking like this. Hes under contract no?

@jack_cym: I really despise this man’s attitude. No respect for that club

@NUFCMurph: One of the most unlikeable blokes in football this fella. Never shown any respect to Brentford.
