FA Cup Third Qualifying Round sees six upsets and many a thrashing

The FA Cup Third Qualifying Round sees a total of six upsets and many a thrashing on Saturday afternoon with some replays needed.

137 goals were scored across 40 ties played out, seven games need to be played again having finished in a draw.

It was Congleton Town who played host for the FA Cup tie shown on BBC via their website, red button etc. It finished in a 1-1 draw against AFC Fylde after Nick Haughton’s superb, last-minute free-kick cancelled out Daniel Needham’s earlier strike.

Meanwhile, there were two debutants also remained in the competition for this round, Bury AFC and Shefford Town & Campton. The former managed to draw 1-1 away at league above Clitheroe. And this is where we say goodbye to Shefford Town & Campton after they fell to a 5-0 defeat at Anstey Nomads from the same level.

There were seven teams from the 9th tier of English football, those who are in the hat for Monday’s draw includes Congleton Town, Anstey Nomads, Ashington and Bury AFC. The others from the ninth level, Romford, Shefford Town & Campton and Helston Athletic lost their place.

Winning and losing clubs in the third round qualifying will receive £5,625 and £1,875 from the competition’s prize fund respectively;

Ties in the fourth round qualifying will be scheduled across the weekend of Saturday 15 October at the earliest opportunity.
