Ex-West Brom boss becomes new manager of Solihull Moors

Ex-West Brom boss Jimmy Shan become the new manager of Solihull Moors after he left Kidderminster Harriers earlier this week.

He is the replacement for Tim Flowers who left the club by mutual consent on the 28th of January with Moors sat 9th in the National League table at the time of resigning.

He said: “I’m delighted now it’s over the line and that I’m here.

“I’m very familiar with the football club and this is a progressive club, an ambitious club. I’m also an ambitious individual and hopefully it’ll be a nice marriage.

“Very quickly I got a feel for the direction this football club is heading in. It was a positive one and one that I want to be a part of.”

Chairman Darryl Eales added: “I’m absolutely delighted that Jimmy is our new manager. He is well-known in local and national football circles and understands the culture and ambition of Moors.

“He is a strong believer in the development of young talent and will help continue the ongoing process of professionalising all aspects of the club.

“Above all else, Jimmy is a strong personality and great character and I am looking forward immensely to working with him.”

Shan left his role as interim manager of mid-table Harriers on the same day as his side travelled to relegation threatened Blyth Spartans and won 1-0.

Solihull also played last night, under backroom staff member James Quinn, and produced a 1-0 win against Barnet to put them 6th.

Shan guided Kiddy to 15th in the table, however his poor record has seen him not even manage until the end of his deal which had him down to stay at the club until the end of the season.

Solihull are to said to have considered a number of coaches following the shock departure of Flowers and were also linked with former boss Mark Yates.

But it’s the former Baggies boss who has come out on top and land what would be his biggest job as a permanent head coach.

Shan was previously a caretaker manager of West Brom in March last season and guided the club to the semi-finals of the Championship playoffs where they lost in a penalty shoot-out, stopping them reaching the Wembley final.

An announcement could be made on Wednesday with Moors keen to secure a place in the National League playoffs, something the club lost in at the semi final stage against AFC Fylde last season.

After finding out that the ex-West Brom boss becomes the new manager at Solihull, fans tweeted their thoughts on social media…
