Ex-Arsenal player Denis Suarez slams the Daily Mail for mocking a robbery at his home, which took place on New Years Eve.
The midfielder, who is currently playing for La Liga side Celta Vigo, was out partying with his girlfriend Nadia Aviles when the thieves broke in.
Local media report that nothing was taken from Suarez’s Barcelona property, but it was the way that Daily Mail wrote their article that really got Suarez reeling.
Not only did they joke about how he struggled to make any sort of impact during his six-month loan spell at Arsenal, but also on that fact that thieves left his home empty handed after deciding that nothing was worth stealing. Ouch.
A spokesman for Mossos d’Esquadra police in Barcelona confirmed they were investigating a burglary at a property in Esplugues de Llobregat near the city airport.
He was unable to offer any information on what, if anything had been taken, although a Spanish radio station said valuables including watches and jewellery had been stolen.
So something was stolen, yet the Daily Mail still made out that nothing was worth taking. Fair to say the media outlet set themselves up for a fail there.
