Everton fans urged to boycott amid outrage to club announcing huge board reshuffle

Everton fans have been urged to boycott games amid outrage to the club announcing a huge board reshuffle on Friday morning.

The Toffees have confirmed that Bill Kenwright, the Premier League club’s current chairman, will continue to serve in this role despite a major reshuffle of the boardroom at Goodison Park.

Denise Barrett-Baxendale has already left her role as Chief Executive, Chief Financial, joining Strategy Officer Grant Ingles, and Non-Executive director Graeme Sharp, in also leaving after a terrible campaign.

Everton supporters want Kenwright to be the next to go, after Barrett-Baxendale and Ingles. But now it has been confirmed that Kenwright would remain in his position with fans fearing for the 2023/24 season.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Further to the announcement on Monday 12 June, Everton Football Club today provides an update on the Board and management roles.

Everton is pleased to announce the appointment of Colin Chong as interim Chief Executive Officer and Director. Colin is currently the Chief Stadium Development Officer and has been focused on the delivery of the transformational new Everton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

In addition, he has been responsible for the operational management of the Club’s business headquarters at the Royal Liver Building. James Maryniak, currently Director of Finance, will take charge of all finance matters as interim Chief Finance Officer.

Everton is also pleased to announce the proposed addition of two Non-Executive Directors to the Board, subject to normal Premier League approvals. Our majority shareholder Mr Farhad Moshiri will join the Board alongside Mr John Spellman, an experienced Chartered Accountant, successful businessman and Evertonian.

Providing an update on the Chairman’s position, Mr Moshiri said: “I wanted Bill to remain as our Chairman during this important period of transition for the Club and I am delighted that he has accepted my request to do so. Bill’s knowledge and vast experience will be crucial for us as we look to reset, deliver on external investment and position Everton for a successful future.

“In John, we have an experienced finance professional who has held Chief Executive and senior finance roles for international firms and I welcome him to the Club.

“In Colin and James, we have two experienced senior Club professionals who have agreed to take on enhanced roles on an interim basis, and who we know can and will deliver immediately.”

This is what Twitter users are saying with Everton fans urged to boycott amid outrage to the club announcing a huge board reshuffle…

@CharlesBurke: Moshiri joins the board and Kenwright stays with all other appointments being interim promotions from inside the club. Most Everton thing I’ve ever read 😭😭😭😭😭😭

@AdesanyaIwobi: Absolute disgrace. Shambles doesn’t even come close. Imagine staying on despite 6 months of protest. Will get ugly extremely fast.

@EvertonViking: Club and Moshiri think they can pull the wool over evertonians eyes. You can’t. Kenwrights time is up.

@rlfansSaddened: What benefit does Moshiri bring to the board? No expertise, no relevant experience and no money. Baffling. And Kenwright gets to keep failing and dragging everything out? What does he offer the club? The protests need to intensify now.

@QuayleSte: Kenwright still being involved does not help the club move forward

@kianrep: 11 days. Pathetic. Kenwright out.

@SharpyDerby: Give us our club back. Kenwright has to go. Bad Times!!!!!

@Houndog6105: Moshiri has made some shocking decisions but this is by far the worst. He had to go, it’s time

@AdesanyaIwobi: Bill should have walked last season. Could have cut the ribbon at Bramley Moore and had his moment as a guest of honour. Tarnishing an already shambolic legacy day by day.

@DC88_: Boycott games until he’s out

@bazley10: Absolute Shambles, The biggest Ego trip I’ve witnessed at our beloved Club , Sad times #EFC

@caskieboy16: Well done look forward to more unrest and protests throughout next season. If Bill was a big an Everton fan as he claims he would gracefully step down. No one man is bigger than the club 🤬

@Chandy_SZN: Hang on so we sacked some of the board. JUST FOR MOSHIRI TO JOIN THE BOARD? AND KENWRIGHT STAYS? AND THE PEOPLE BROUGHT IN ARE FROM INSIDE THE CLUB?

@RaymonBluington: You are taking the piss out of fans. The two people who have dragged this club to its lowest point in its entire history still want to make the decisions? You had the chance to fix this.

@PeterJMacca: If anything the protests will intensify now. This isn’t “one man and his dog” it’s a massive majority of the fan base, the same fan base that helped to keep the team up after Bill Kenwright abandoned ship like a coward, the same fan base that were thrown under the bus by him

@slam05: This is an absolute disgrace. Kenwright is the one that needs to go. Time and time again he has managed to hang everyone around him from managers, to executives, to football people and make them all responsible – but he stays. It’s absolutely shameful.

@Rob1878: Who trusts Fatrhad Moshiri to get decisions right any more? I certainly don’t I’m afraid

@Deloreans_88MPH:
Moshiri:-
Do you know what they’d love!?
If you stayed Bill and I joined the board. 👍
🎪 🤡 🤡

@msth_19: Should be mass protests now. Boycott the first game

@0bi1: This is an utter joke. Basically moved the chairs around but the problem remains. Moshiri is weak and both him and Kenwright need to go quickly for this club to heal. Stadium aside it has been complete abject failure at every level. Just go

@azulfeehely: This organisation never ceases to amaze. In an era where Premier League clubs are smarter than ever, Everton remain a relic of another age. Brace yourselves for another miserable season.
