Everton fan DROPS child to get Anthony Gordon’s shirt after Leeds draw

An Everton fan DROPS child so that he could get to Anthony Gordon’s shirt after the 1-1 draw with Leeds on Tuesday night.

Gordon is regarded as a hero by Everton fans, even more so after he helped prevent the club from going down last season and has scored two goals in five games whilst speculations looms on his future at Goodison Park.

The 21-year-old, who came through the club’s youth system, has emerged into one of Everton’s best players.

He showed why he is so highly regarded in Everton’s Premier League clash against Leeds at Elland Road, notching the opener after 17 minutes. Alex Iwobi sent Gordon clear on goal and the winger kept his composure when one vs one with Illan Meslier.

Everton couldn’t hold on to their lead with Luis Sinisterra’s 55th minute strike getting an equaliser for the hosts.

Neither side could find a winner as the spoils were shared, however there was an unusual moment after the final whistle when an Everton fan appeared to drop a kid in a desperate attempt to get hold of Gordon’s shirt.

Gordon took his shirt off and made his way to the travelling supporters. A young kid jumps down onto the playing surface, before getting back in the stand again, leading to stewards rushing over to the boy. It catches the attention of Gordan, who then goes over to give his shirt, and thats when the adult collects it only to drop the kid from his shoulder it would appear. Stewards apprehended the youngster and gave him back to the man who had just dropped him.

The Everton fan then appeared to go ballistic at the stewards too. The whole moment has gone viral on social media and you can watch it below, and yes, the kid eventually was handed Gordon’s shirt…

Everton manager Frank Lampard speaking to BT Sport about Marsch’s time-wasting complaints:

“I think they [Leeds] became obsessed with the time.

“We went 1-0 up and there were a couple of times the ball was in the crowd still and their bench was talking about time. I don’t know if they want Jordan [Pickford] to sprint into the crowd and get the ball back and put it down. I didn’t get it. I think it became an obsession.

“Then the crowd get on it and then they try to put pressure on the referee. I understand it. Goodison Park can be a tough place to come.

“I think it became a side issue because there were a lot of times there when we had to just go and get the ball. What do you want us to do? Strange.”

Leeds head coach Jesse Marsch speaking to BT Sport about perceived time-wasting throughout the game from Everton:

“Yeah that was terrible. This is classic. For me, you can see when the players from Everton are kicking the ball away in the first minute of the game, it’s clear they wanted to take the energy out of Elland Road.

“This is still an entertainment business and I wish the referee had handled that a little bit better and created more urgency.

“After it was 1-1 it became entertaining, but it was too late. The referee had the chance to affect the game and did not take advantage of that.”
