An epic FA Trophy tie last night saw a team comeback from 3-0 and 4-3 down to go on and end up winning 5-4, progressing through to the next round.
That team was Cinderford Town who travelled west and stunned their opponents Merthyr Town for their First Qualifying Round replay clash.
The hosts were 3-0 up in the first half thanks to goals from Ian Traylor (5′ pen), Gethyn Hill (16′) and Eliot Richards (40′).
Of course by this point Cinderford looked to be exiting the competition against the higher level club, who play in the Southern League Premier Division South.
Those just before half time, the away side’s Sam Turl put his side back in the game before Josh Hunt made it 3-2 on the 56th minute.
Andy Lewis completed the comeback in the 73rd minute, setting up an exciting finish towards the end of the cup tie.
Cinderford conceded again in the 80th minute, but James Harding made the scoreline level again five minutes later to take the tie to extra-time.
Full time!! Wow what a result!
From 3-0 down, final score Merthyr Town 4-5 Cinderford Town. We will now face Potters Bar Town at the Causeway this Saturday. This will replace the home match vs Bristol Manor Farm ?
