England players post on social media with message to fans reflecting on World Cup exit

England players post via social media with a message to fans while reflecting on their exit from the 2026 World Cup.

The Three Lions just fell short of making the final, Argentina coming from behind to seal a place in the final, where they will play Spain on Sunday.

On Saturday, England will take on France as they battle for third place.

But in the meantime, members of the England squad have taken time to look back on and share their thoughts, thanks fans for their support.

Anthony Gordon: “Truly devastated. I genuinely thought this was our time to win after waiting so many years but it wasn’t to be and it’s going to hurt for a while.

“I’ve never wanted to win so badly, not just for the trophy but for everything we built as a group and what it would have meant for England.

“I’ve loved every minute of representing this country at a World Cup and creating memories that will live on for a long time.

“Thank you to everyone who supported us on this journey out here in the US and back home, it was so good to see the togetherness and celebrations.

“We will have our day. ❤️”

Harry Kane: “No words are big enough right now to overcome this empty feeling in the stomach. We were close, really close to another final but it wasn’t enough. We’ve given everything over these last 7 weeks and to fall short is hard to take!

“I know the expectations are high and rightly so, we’ve been knocking on the door for 8 years now but again are missing that final piece of the jigsaw! That’s where we have to go away, process it and find a way to get better. I’m so proud of the boys and what we have shown throughout this tournament – some tough games and tough environments that we have overcome.

“Some memories that will stay with us players and I’m sure you fans for a long long time! Going for glory doesn’t always mean you will get it. You have to fight for it, get knocked down, pick yourself up and go again and that’s what we will do, there’s no other way but to keep believing and keeping pushing.

“Thank you to every single fan that travelled and showed their support in the stadiums. Thank you to every fan back home for believing in us. Thank you to the boys and staff for everything you have given. As always Win or lose, we learn and go again! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🦁”

Reece James: “The beautiful game we love can be cruel at times. We came so close, yet so far. We truly believed this was our moment, and maybe that’s what makes it the hardest to accept.

“Putting on the Three Lions shirt at a World Cup for the first time is something I’ll never forget. It’s a privilege that means more to me than words can explain. Right now, there’s disappointment, but moments like these are also a chance to learn, grow and reflect.

“To every fan who travelled across the world to support us, thank you. So many of you saved for years to experience this tournament with us, carrying the same hope that this could finally be our year. Your support, your passion and your belief in this team never went unnoticed.

“We feel your pain because we share it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with us every step of the way.”

Ezri Konsa: “Devastated that it wasn’t meant to be. This result hurts a lot now but I’m proud to be part of a great group that gave everything. This is how football can go, we’ll be back again @england 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

“Let’s finish positively and all together as one in Miami. Your support has never gone unnoticed ❤️”

Djed Spence: “Heart broken to say the least, we gave it our all, we left our hearts and souls on the pitch but it just wasn’t meant to be.

“This is a special group of players & I’m proud to be apart of this team ♥️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿!

“We’ll be back stronger than ever 🦁🦁🦁

“GOD IS THE GREATEST ♥️🤲🏾✨
BELIEVE!
#GODSPEED 25.”

Morgan Rogers: “I’m devastated. We gave so much to reach this far and for it to end the way it did hurts.

“Thank you to the fans that travelled and the ones back home for the continued support.

“We shared memories that will last for a lifetime and I lived a childhood dream to represent my country at a World Cup. We will be back, mark my words. ♥️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿”

Elliot Anderson: “Absolutely devastated. To be so close and come up short is so hard to take. I had full belief and confidence in everything this team was doing and what we were about.

“I thought this was our time but it wasn’t meant to be. It will take a while to digest but we will be back competing on the biggest stages.

“Thank you to everyone who supported us, we appreciate all the love. Our time will come. 🫶🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿”

John Stones: “💔”

Jude Bellingham: “Was really struggling to find the right words for yesterday and the last few weeks but this pretty much hits the nail on the head from our driver in Kansas.

“Thank you for the unbelievable support from back home and to those who spent their hard earned money to travel to America and get behind us.

“Don’t let the unity and love we’ve seen in our country end with this campaign. When we’re together we can achieve big things… And we will! Love yous! ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿”
