England announce another friendly as part of their Euro 2020 warmup

England announce another friendly – that’s a total of four now – as part of their Euro 2020 warmup.

Italy will be travelling to Wembley Stadium early next year in what is being called ‘The Heads Up International’ on Friday 27 March 2020 (8pm kick-off).

The fixture will be the first of four tests to help the Three Lions prepare for next summer’s UEFA EURO 2020.

The occasion has also been designated to the Heads Up campaign in support of our charitable partnership with HRH The Duke of Cambridge’s Heads Together mental health initiative.

It plans to be England’s 28th encounter with the four-time world champions and exactly two years to the day since the last meeting – a 1-1 draw at Wembley.

The Italians, who won the Euros in 1968, have been placed in Group A at next summer’s finals and Roberto Mancini’s men will play all three games against Turkey, Switzerland and Wales in Rome.

The Three Lions announced they will travel to Vienna to face Austria on Tuesday 2 June 2020 (7.45pm kick-off UK time) at the Ernst Happel Stadion as part of their pre-tournament training camp.

Gareth Southgate’s squad will then host the Romanians on Sunday 7 June 2020 (kick-off TBC) at a venue in England that is still to be confirmed.

Austria have been draw alongside Ukraine, the Netherlands and a play-off winner in Group C of next summer’s finals. June’s fixture will see England return to the scene of their last meeting with Austria – a 1-0 win in November 2007 – and chalk up their 19th encounter with Franco Foda’s side.

Romania, who are hoping to secure their place as hosts at UEFA EURO 2020 via the play-offs in March 2020, last faced England in the group stages of EURO 2000. That 3-2 defeat was one of 11 previous meetings with the Three Lions, who have only won twice.

A date had already been booked with fellow finalists Denmark at Wembley Stadium connected by EE on Tuesday 31 March (8pm kick-off).

Following the draw in Bucharest, England know they will face Croatia and the Czech Republic in Group D at UEFA EURO 2020 as well as the winner of the play-off path featuring Scotland, Israel, Norway and Serbia. All three fixtures will be played at Wembley with dates set for Sunday 14 June (2pm kick-off v Croatia), Friday 19 June (8pm kick-off v TBC) and Tuesday 23 June (8pm v Czech Republic).

Tickets are now on general sale for England v Denmark HERE.
