An emotional Danny Röhl pays respect to Sheffield Wednesday fans, players and staff after suffering defeat to Hull City.
Danny Röhl reflected on their first game since it was revealed Sheffield Wednesday’s players had not been paid their salaries for March.
Charlie Hughes scored last-gasp winner for Tigers to provide huge boost to survival hopes, while for the Owls, they are now without a home victory since New Year’s Day.
@_GeorgeSmith99: I was in Danny Röhl’s post-match presser and I have, quite naturally, never seen him look so deflated. He looked like a broken man. It feels as though what we all hoped would be a long and successful marriage is coming to an end – and it’s no surprise. He deserves better. #SWFC
@AlfieHouseEcho: Looks like a goodbye! I’m not a lawyer and I don’t know if Danny Rohl has been paid himself, but if he hasn’t surely that contract and compensation situation isn’t as watertight..? Shambles of a club whatever the case. #SaintsFC
🗣️ “I will never forget these players, in my life.”

“I will never forget these players in my future, I know this… Players with passion and character and the right attitude. This is incredible to see.”

As per The Star, when asked if he had any communication on the deadline, he said he was unable to provide any clarity and instead paid tribute to his players for their commitment in what has been a turbulent week: “I cannot answer too much on this topic.
“It is not my topic and I am the wrong person to speak about this. Hopefully we can solve this problem, this is very important for the club. But I don’t know, we can just cross our fingers, we can not influence it. We have to try again to bring a performance on Tuesday (at Blackburn Rovers) against a side that is also struggling a little bit at the moment.
“We have to go again, we have to invest. It will not be easy. For everyone around the team, the players. But I have told these players I am so proud that they have never complained about anything since I have been here. This is the key message and with this we go into the final six games.”
On how catastrophic the reality of such a sanction would be for the future of the club: “If this is the case then it seems the club have solutions for what is possible and what is not possible.
“I think we had our message yesterday in the article on what we should do then (if they are put under embargo). I don’t know. But I will not focus on this, I will focus on the next six games.
“You know this better than me, the topic of the article. We take this as a group. Hopefully we find a solution on Monday and then we can put this topic away and focus on the sport science. This is what I love, to focus on the football, to talk about my players, the tactics, our fantastic fans, not too much the other stuff.”
Fans reacted as an emotional Danny Röhl pays respect to Sheffield Wednesday fans, players and staff after Hull defeat…
@Duff1867: What a credit that man has been to our club. Don’t deserve him
@prior67: Hopefully Chansiri sells and Danny decides to stay but unfortunately miracles don’t happen. Can’t blame rohl if he doesn’t mind playing go at the end of the season along with a lot of players #chansiriout
@Chezricho: Breaks my heart, even score board couldn’t be arsed to change the subs today. Deflated, numb, just don’t know what’s going to happen to our amazing club 💙
@FG_utb2: He’s just looking at the floor for any loose change
@HullCity1975: I remember when Steve Bruce walked away after beating Wednesday at Wembley. He turned his back on the Premier league because he couldn’t cope no longer with Ehab Allam. Danny Rohl is probably at that point the Chansiri now. Would it be a suprise if he left before the next game
@WamMatt: Broken just like the whole club all on you chansiri. WAWAW
@Coat73: He went over to T1 first and there was a handful of people left,it was like a mutual this is over moment, myself included yesterday 25,000 of us were like lemmings walking to the edge of the cliff without protest it was an acceptance of our fate and it was an awful feeling.
@GGlossop93: Thanks Danny. What could have been eh?! You’ll have a fantastic career. Chansiri out! #swfc
@adamtmilner: Sat in the stand and the end and watched him watching the hull celebrations, then walked dejected around the pitch. He knows the potential we have and with a proper Owner he would have got us up. Absolutely gutted he is on his way, it’s gonna be a long next few years 😢
@kianowl: Doesn’t matter if he walks or leaves at the end of the season. We all know that if we had an owner with intentions of doing well by the club, he wouldn’t go. The clubs a joke from the top all the way down to the fans. I’m still Wednesday till I die but enough is enough 🦉
@Finch1867: He leaves with no bad feelings from me. Right man, wrong owner. With the right backing this guy would get us to the prem. He has a bright career in front of him.
@jonathanhood86: Feel for him, the players and everyone at the club. Who wants to work in this sort of environment? Surely all fans need to see that we need a new regime in. Until then, I don’t blame Danny or anyone if they leave!
@kezzadix: DC has done this man so dirty 🥺 Imagine what he could achieve at a club where he’s backed from above
@terryhulley: What a bloke. Leaves with my blessings. Gonna be some manager with the right backing at another club.
@CarlosElsworth: A broken manager, a broken team with a broken fan base.. today just shows how low things have got from the pitch to the stands.. it’s a sorry state and 1 man is to blame for how this is all playing out in front of us all.. feel so sorry for Danny.. a really genuine guy
