Fans reacted as the EFL Trophy groups were drawn out – and the Carabao Cup First Round ball numbers were confirmed…
Anyone but Preston, can’t be playing a derby with no fans there.

Hopefully we’ll get Doncaster or Harrogate away – Millers fan ?⚪️
— Elliott Jervis (@Jervdog) August 17, 2020
Not Barrow away on a wet and windy night. ??
— Julie warren (@jwar123) August 17, 2020
Ipswich please ???
— millwall (@itfc_fans_coyb) August 17, 2020
Grimsby v Hull ?
Shame it’s the EFL Trophy and no one will be bothered….
— Simon Stephenson (@SimarinerGY) August 17, 2020
And the “excitement” of this draw tomorrow (on Talk Sport 2) is to add a B team to each group. There was clearly a huge bidding war to get the media rights for this. I can barely contain myself ?
— FollowTheTown (@FollowTheTown1) August 17, 2020
I’ll be honest if they kept this system but removed B teams i wouldn’t mind, gives you a better chance of getting further if you play group games first and more money and you might get people turning up for once

The cup no one minds being played behind closed doors… @EFL inviting junior teams to play in their own leagues competition has ruined a perfectly decent competition for the lower leagues.
— Lancsiron (@LancsIron) August 17, 2020
A separate draw for the under 21 teams, because of course all us tinpot clubs should feel such privilege to play such great opposition ? Jokers
— Cameron (@lawseyitfc) August 17, 2020
Waste of time and effort trophy
— Dave somers (@Davysom71) August 17, 2020
So the EFL clubs get their draw done behind closed doors, and tomorrow is the excitement of which Premier Leagues U21s we get to face.
You really are taking the piss with this.— Bacon Bantam (@BaconBantam) August 17, 2020
