‘Disgraceful pricing’ – Aston Villa slammed by fans over Champions League ticket details

‘Disgraceful pricing’ – Aston Villa have been slammed by fans over Champions League ticket details announced on the 4th of September.

The fanbase have voiced considerable discontent regarding the ticket prices for Champions League matches, with costs as high as £94 for individual tickets and £79 for season ticket holders.

Supporters took to Twitter, arguing that such costs are pricing out loyal supporters, especially those who attend games regularly.

STATEMENT:

Aston Villa are pleased to advise supporters of ticket details for our historic maiden Champions League campaign.

The club’s first foray into the continent’s elite competition for 41 years will see Villa Park host four exciting fixtures with some of Europe’s heavyweight clubs.

German giants Bayern Munich will arrive at B6 on Wednesday, October 2 in a mouthwatering re-run of the greatest night in the club’s history, when Peter Withe’s goal secured European Cup glory in 1982.

After hosting competition newcomers Bologna on Tuesday, October 22, we will welcome another European colossus in two-time winners Juventus – and a welcome back to Villa Park for Douglas Luiz on Wednesday, November 27.

We round off our home schedule with a hotly-anticipated Battle of Britain clash on Wednesday, January 29 with Scottish champions and 1967 European Cup winners, Celtic making the trip south to the Midlands.

Ticket prices for Adult season ticket holders in Zones 1 and 2 will be priced at £79.

Junior season ticket holders pay just £20 in all price zones other than Zone 1 and 1888 seats.

For a full breakdown of prices, please see the table below.

The Club also take this opportunity to announce pricing for domestic cup matches should we be drawn at home. All Carabao Cup matches and the first home fixture in the FA Cup will be priced at just £25 for adults and £10 for children in all areas of the Stadium.

On the 10th of September, Aston Villa’s Chris Heck released a statement through the club’s social media, saying: “We want to thank all our season ticket holders who have recently exercised their right to buy tickets for our first Champions League game vs. Bayern Munich and apologise to all those on the season ticket waiting list and to those general fans who were unable to secure seats for this game.

“We recognise and understand the depth of passion felt amongst fans and their recent frustration around ticket pricing. Achieving our sporting ambitions while complying with financial stability regulations requires difficult decisions. Financial fair play rules prohibit owners from covering shortfalls to finance this ambition, so we need to generate as much revenue as possible through sponsorships, merchandise, and ticket sales to ensure that we can keep the Club where it rightfully belongs – competing (and winning) at the top of English and European football.

“Additionally, we want to thank our fans for their patience and for their loyal support whilst we do our utmost to grow the Club as a business, and ensure we are all doing our part to support our players on the pitch both home and away. Our priority will always be to match our collective ambition while ensuring that we are able to increase stadium capacity each season and provide the best matchday experience for all our fans. We are committed to ensuring the Club’s enduring long-term success both on and off the field.”

As mentioned, Aston Villa have been slammed by fans over Champions League ticket details…

@hiveofvillans: The cheapest adult ticket is EIGHTY FIVE FUCKING POUNDS. How dare you. This is fucking disgusting.

@CarlvHarris: Disgraceful from the club. Trying to Fleece supporters once again

@ElpyUTV: That’s ridiculous! … I get we need to get revenues up, but gouging fans isn’t the way. There should be plenty of opps for sponsorship now; exploit them, not the fans! … This just leaves a bad taste tbh. Disappointed!

@tow_6: Pricing out the hardcore fans who have been here through the tough times disgraceful

@jlancaster0: You sick bastards

@LiamSadler_27: You’re so out of touch with what a football supporter is it’s unbelievable

@3PMSaturday: You pisstaking wankers

@_kjs1874: Absolute disgrace. Different prices for non STH? What a kick in the bollocks for the unfortunate fans who can’t go as regularly. Same price to watch us play fucking Bologna as Bayern Munich? Zone 1 a parent will pay nearly £200 for them and one child. You’re waging war on fans

@Collins_AVFC: You robbing wankers ✊🏻

@joegodwin_: that’s fucking disgusting

@GarySmithJnr: £79 for season ticket holders. £94 for members. Glad I got my free coffee mug. 🤣😑

@DeanAVFCL7: Disgrace

@JPAvfc_: Doubt this will stay in place – what a slap in the face to those of us who went week in week out when we weren’t worth watching.

@mattlyynch: Grim that. STH holder prices are steep.I’ll be paying a £15 premium over STH holders because of being on a claret membership. No real discount for being a STH holder there truly. Taken to the cleaners either way.

@1874and1982: This is what we get for backing the club from the days of Bruceball in the champo… fucks sake man. Not surprised but incredibly disappointed to literally be priced out of what could be a once in a lifetime opportunity

@AdamP1242: Imagine being in the armed forces for 40 years to be charged at least £78 to watch your team play in the Champions League 😂😂😂😂

@MattyBirddd: £79 to watch Celtic at home you scummy fucking bastards 😂😂😂😂

@Mcarroll101: For the first time ever, I’m ashamed of this club. A family of 4 could be spending £250 before they’ve even left the house. How is that right?

@DavidThross: Total joke. We pay £900+ for a ST, shirts in excess of £100, food and drink is about £17-20 per game and now we’ve got to pay over £300 to watch 4 UCL games 😂 I wouldn’t mind but most fans need to queue for an hour to get in to the ground and need to swim out of the toilets.

@HarryMummery: £200 for me, my dad and my brother to go in ZONE FOUR. This is absolutely disgraceful

@TomWush: Unbelievable at times this club. Fleecing everyone for all they can.

@mattheyho1: Members ripped off again

@centristdad85: We got 3 matches in the UECL for the price of one of these when they offered the 3 x group game package. Absolutely ridiculous really, I hoped for better from the club.

@avfc_it: £94 bruv

@krxsctr: Disgraceful pricing

@fcfcJR: £94 to watch a fucking game a football @chrisheck76 do you understand that villa is a working man’s club look at Liverpool look and man city prices clubs are who are bigger and better than us charger 1/2 the price

@KeslerSZN: That’s ridiculous @chrisheck76 or whoever does the ticketing prices
