Derby County fans have chosen to hit out at former Liverpool and England player John Barnes for his Twitter post on Phillip Cocu.
The public figure has come under fire for much of November for a series of tweets published online lately, mainly on black coaches.
It’s not to say he hasn’t also won praise for being correct in what he’s saying, most however have criticised him for some controversial statements.
His latest frustration express was Derby County sacking ‘white manager’ Phillip Cocu after 11 games in charge but black managers are axed even earlier.
His post read: “Just to pre empt… philip cocu a white manager has been sacked after 11 games… im sure he’ll get another job… which he should. The point isnt that white managers dont get the sack… its that black managers get the sack QUICKER, and are rarely given a 2nd chance .. nite!”

The Rams currently sit bottom of the Championship table, taking just six points from 11 games played so far for the 2020/21 season. That really is bad.
Assistant Manager Chris van der Weerden and Specialist First Team Coach Twan Scheepers have also left the club by mutual agreement.
John Barnes also recently made an incredibly controversial statement suggesting current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would have been sacked as Liverpool manager within his first two years in charge if he had been black.
The good times are back at Anfield, all thanks to Klopp guiding them to glory in both the Champions League and Premier League, with last year’s top-flight triumph a first for 30 years.
But there was no immediate success for the German who finished 8th in his first season in charge after replacing from Brendan Rodgers back in October 2015.
They did, however, reach both the Europa League and EFL Cup final, though, a fourth-place finish in the following campaign to secure a return to Europe’s top table.
But Barnes, who starred at Anfield between 1987 and 1997, says Klopp would have lost his job ‘under different circumstances’.
Speaking about discrimination in football following Greg Clarke’s resignation as FA Chairman, Barnes told PlayOJO: “You can put structures in place, but until you change your perception, nothing will change.
“I use Klopp as an example. How successful was he really in the first two years in terms of being 25 points off the top? But we [ Liverpool ] believed that he was the right man.
“Under different circumstances, he would have lost his job. If he was black, he would have lost his job in those first two years.”

Barnes also suggested English managers have it tougher than their foreign counterparts, with Frank Lampard the only Englishman currently in charge of one of the so-called ‘Big Six’.
“If he [Klopp] was English, he would have lost his job,” added the 57-year-old former England international.
“This is where the idea of discrimination is a little bit strange because there’s a group of people who are discriminated against in English football and the very highest level in the Premier League.
“Now, the top six teams will not have a white English manager.
“Yes, you can say Frank Lampard, as people have pointed out, but that’s because he has a special bond with Chelsea and that’s the only reason he managed Chelsea – but under different circumstances he wouldn’t have got that job.”
Derby fans hit out at John Barnes for his Twitter post on Phillip Cocu whilst others also debated whether he was right or wrong in what he was saying…
Geoff Snow: fuck sake,it’s got nothing to do with race,if it had then Liam Rosenier would have gone as well,as he was also a part of Cocu’s backroom staff, the plain and simple fact is,the results were not good enough.
Roy Leivers: WTF? 🤦♂️
Kev Barker: Pathetic
Jamie Dumbleton: Blokes a twat!
Andy Naylor: Makes my piss boil, if it isn’t BLM, it is female presenters on every sports channel you put on, get a grip, nothing against talent but not at the detriment of doing nothing more than making a political statement (rant over) thank you and good luck Cocu & team
Dave Jordan: Boring fucker is at it again zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Stick to downloading bang bros vids JB.

John also got a second chance. He was at Tranmere in 2009 for four months winning two games from eleven before being sacked after a 5-0 loss to Millwall.

Cocu and his players have done a poor job..regardless of the colour of skin he was sacked for results..was he qaulified enough did he have the credentials for the job..so john you are a legend but instead of fantasy thoughts put the stats out there..do you research..

Why should Cocu get another job? He’s failed miserable. His tactics questioned by his own players a coaches. He clearly isn’t good enough. Top player but a poor manager. I completely agree with the fact that in years gone by, roles have been predominately white and the reasoning

Cocu would’ve been sacked a lot sooner if we didn’t have financial issues and a takeover going on. This isn’t an example that helps your point?

How can you make Philip cocu being sacked become a racial debate? What is wrong with people nowadays
— Jack Thompson (@JackOliThompson) November 14, 2020
So, if Cocu was black, he would have gotten fewer games?

John get a fucking grip man! It’s got nothing to do with race but the simple fact that Cocu is dogshit.
