Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has given his predictions for some Football League fixtures.
The former Nottingham Forest, Southampton, Leeds, Swindon, Sheffield Wednesday and England U21 footballer who currently works as a presenter, pundit and commentator has given score predictions on all twelve Championship matches.
After looking at majority of his predictions, it’s found that he’s rather accurate and that if you put the scores he’s gone with into a table, it is very similar to the current standings. See what he went with below and on the next few pages…
QPR v READING
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is: 3-2
He said: “QPR have been wonderful to watch this season, mainly because they can’t stop scoring or conceding goals! There have been 42 of them in their 12 games so far, more than any other side in the Championship.
“Mark Bowen would have been delighted to win his first game in charge of Reading on Saturday, to lift some of the scrutiny and get them back to winning ways after such a poor slump of form. There should be goals here, but I fancy QPR to edge it.”
SHEFFIELD WED v STOKE
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is: 2-1
He said: “Garry Monk was frustrated with his side’s failure to win at Cardiff on Friday night, which shows how far Sheffield Wednesday have come in such a short space of time.
“Stoke look a different beast altogether now, and they were clinical in their victory over Fulham on Saturday. Nathan Jones looks fired up in the dugout again, but I think the Owls will nick this one.”
WEST BROM v BARNSLEY
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is: 3-1
He said: “West Brom are starting to look the team to beat in the Championship this season. They are tighter at the back and although they may lack a consistent main striker they have goals coming from all over.
“Barnsley still haven’t won since the opening day of the season but they played far better against Swansea on Saturday than I have seen them in a while, and deserved the draw at least. That being said, West Brom will be too good for them.”
FULHAM v LUTON
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is: 2-0
He said: “Fulham dominated possession against Stoke on Saturday but they had fewer shots and shots on target. At this point you have to wonder if Scott Parker is getting the most out of an extremely talented squad.
“Luton got a good win at the weekend and look to be doing enough right now to survive in this division, which would be massive for them after so long away from this level. Home win for me.”
HUDDERSFIELD v MIDDLESBROUGH
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is: 2-0
He said: “Huddersfield are back in the relegation zone but that won’t worry Danny Cowley too much as he continues to make his mark on the team.
“Middlesbrough, meanwhile, could easily end the midweek round of games in the relegation zone. The club will be desperate to give Jonathan Woodgate time but they need to improve quickly. I can’t see them getting anything on Wednesday, though.”
NOTT’M FOREST v HULL
The score David Prutton has predicted for this game is: 2-1
He said: “Nottingham Forest weren’t great at Wigan on Sunday as they fell to their first defeat since the opening day of the season, and they will want to bounce back quickly.
“Hull have shown promise at times this season but they still look over-reliant on Jarrod Bowen or Kamil Grosicki providing a moment of magic for them to win a game. Forest should bounce back here.”
