David Prutton’s Championship score predictions (10-12 July)

It time for another bunch of David Prutton‘s ever controversial Championship score predictions for this weekend’s set fixtures.

There are sadly just four games left of the 2019/20 campaign, yet there is still so much more that needs sorting, with promotion, playoffs and relegation yet to be decided.

With another twelve games set to be played out, take a look at David Prutton’s Championship score predictions for them below…

HUDDERSFIELD v LUTON

Prutton said: “It’s not been pretty from Huddersfield in the past week, but they have earned two points from two goalless draws to give themselves a little bit of breathing space above the bottom three.

Luton were held by Barnsley in midweek, but it could have easily have been a defeat and they are running out of time. They know they need to win this one, and that may give them the edge.

SCORE PREDICTION: Huddersfield 0-1 Luton – Friday 6pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

FULHAM v CARDIFF

Prutton said: “Three wins on the spin for Fulham, and they will have Aleksandar Mitrovic back after his ban to boost their attacking line. It may be a little late for the top two, but they are playing themselves into some form before the play-offs.

Cardiff opened the door for the chasing pack by losing to Blackburn on Tuesday night. Maybe the nerves are starting to kick in? This is a good chance for them to put their stamp on sixth ahead of the rest of the sides this weekend, but I think it will be a draw at Craven Cottage.”

SCORE PREDICTION: Fulham 2-2 Cardiff, Friday 8.15pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

DERBY v BRENTFORD

Prutton said: “Red cards and a tough run of games have caught up with Derby a little in the past couple of games, and they were well beaten by West Brom on Wednesday night.

Brentford came back to claim a massive win against Charlton to show they aren’t going anywhere. This is another tricky fixture for them, but I think they have the momentum to prevail.”

SCORE PREDICTION: Derby 1-2 Brentford, Saturday 12.30pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

BARNSLEY v WIGAN

Prutton said: “Barnsley created enough chances to beat Luton several times over on Tuesday, but could only end up scraping a late draw that leaves them four points adrift of safety.

Wigan just need to keep winning, and see what happens. They have a great run of games coming up and look in good form still. I think they will win here.”

SCORE PREDICTION: Barnsley 0-2 Wigan, Saturday 3pm

STOKE v BIRMINGHAM

Prutton said: “Stoke were thumped badly by Leeds on Thursday night, but as Michael O’Neill said afterwards that isn’t the type of game that will define whether they stay up. At this stage they do need to bounce back quickly, though.

Birmingham will be without Pep Clotet following his departure, but their last few performances have suggested they were treading water until the end of the season. They need to keep going so they don’t drop any further, but I can’t see them getting anything on Sunday.”

SCORE PREDICTION: Stoke 2-0 Birmingham, Sunday 1.30pm – Live on Sky Sports Football

SWANSEA v LEEDS

Prutton said: “Swansea are still knocking on the door of the play-offs, and it will be interesting to see how they cope this weekend with all their rivals playing before them.

Leeds thrashed Stoke on Thursday and took a big step closer to promotion. They are playing after Brentford so we don’t know what the situation will be heading into this game, but they will want to get the job done sooner or later. They’ll win here for me.”

SCORE PREDICTION: Swansea 0-2 Leeds, Sunday 1.30pm

CHARLTON v READING

David Prutton has predicted that Charlton will win the lunchtime kick off by one goal to nil, which should see the Addicks climb further away from the drop zone. Lee Bowyer’s side are winless in three whilst the Royals are unbeaten in two.

BLACKBURN v WEST BROM

David Prutton has predicted that the Baggies will maintain their winning run with a 2-1 scoreline against a Blackburn side that are five points away from the playoffs. Slaven Bilic’s side are also five ahead of third place Brentford.

HULL v MILLWALL

David Prutton has predicted that these two side will draw it out with both sides getting a goal each. Like Blackburn, Millwall are five points from reaching the playoffs, though it’s sure to be a good battle with Hull sitting in the relegation zone and a point from safety.

MIDDLESBROUGH v BRISTOL CITY

David Prutton has predicted that Neil Warnock will continue their encouraging form with another three points by beating managerless Bristol City, who did end up winning their first game without sacked Lee Johnson previous to the upcoming one. The Robins are six points behind the playoffs and Boro are two points above the relegation zone.

PRESTON v NOTT’M FOREST

David Prutton has predicted that Nottingham Forest will come out on top with a 2-1 win over the playoff chasing Lilywhites, which they are three points behind. Another win for the Reds should see them look in good contention for a playoff spot of their own.

QPR v SHEFFIELD WED

David Prutton’s Championship score predictions for this game will be 1-1. They sit just below mid-table and are outsiders when it comes to the relegation battle, Wednesday sitting seven points above the drop and QPR eight points.
