David de Gea trolled over absolute howlers against Brentford in woeful Man Utd display

David de Gea has been trolled over his absolute howlers to give Brentford an early lead against Man Utd on Saturday evening.

Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United got underway in west London, with Ronaldo quickly into the action but has a claim for a free-kick on the edge of the Brentford area emphatically turned down by the referee.

Ronaldo was at the heart of things again minutes later, turning the ball round the corner with a neat backheel before hitting a dipping effort from 30 yards. Raya held it comfortably, though.

Five minutes in, Brentford launched a long throw into the Man Utd box and the visitors didn’t deal with it at all, with Mee rolling Shaw and the ball eventually being smuggled behind for a corner.

Eriksen couldn’t be heard getting booed by some Brentford fans.

Then came the goal, and a very bad look for David de Gea! It’s not the first time we’ve seen this from the Man Utd keeper either.

Ronaldo lost the ball inside his own half and Brentford work the ball to Dasilva on the right of the United area.

The midfielder took aim from outside the box and it dribbled towards De Gea, only for the Spaniard to let it squirm under him and into the bottom corner. Nightmare start for Man Utd and Erik ten Hag.

Sky Sports’ Gary Neville at the Gtech Community Stadium: “It is not the first time we have seen that from David de Gea. He does not get his body in position and it slips through his hands.”

Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz at the Gtech Community Stadium: “That is a terrible, terrible error from David de Gea. Dasilva is known for his long-range shooting but that should have been dealt with by the Spaniard.

“Sometimes goalkeepers are unfairly criticised for failing to stop the ball at the near post, but that is nothing short of a clanger.

“Would any of the other Big Six goalkeepers make that error? I’m unsure.”

15 minutes in, Dasilva tried to turn provider this time as takes up a position on the right of the Man Utd area before trying to pick out a team-mate in the box. Fortunately for the visitors, Martinez managed to get a foot in just in time.

Maguire then gifted the ball to Brentford deep in his own half and then panicked by bringing down Toney as he drove towards De Gea’s goal.

Sky Sports’ Gary Neville at the Gtech Community Stadium: “He is lunging, Harry Maguire. He goes right through him. He is lucky that Martinez had got back in there or that would have been a red.”

Awful from Man Utd again as De Gea tried to play out from the back but played a hospital pass to Eriksen of all players, who was harried out of possession in his own area. Jensen took full advantage and sent De Gea the wrong way as Brentford race into a two-goal lead.

Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz at the Gtech Community Stadium: “Brentford fans are loving this!

‘You should have stayed at a big club!’ is what they were chanting to Christian Eriksen.

“And how ironic that the Danish midfielder is the one to give the ball away for Jensen’s goal. Unfortunately for FPL fans, Eriksen isn’t getting the assist for that one.”

Sky Sports’ Gary Neville at the Gtech Community Stadium: “Brentford are not having it, they are all over them like a rash. Manchester United are in a mess. They are being pressed like you would not believe and they are crumbling in this first 20 minutes.”

Brentford fans are chanting ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ at Erik ten Hag. He surely didn’t imagine his new job would start this badly?

Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz at the Gtech Community Stadium: “Brentford fans aren’t letting up here in terms of chanting. Now they aim their mockery at the United players – ‘You’re going down with the Fulham.’

“At least Fulham have a point this season.”

By the 23rd minute, Man Utd offered nothing going forward. Their most recent foray into the Brentford half ends with Dalot overhitting a cross that drifts out for a goal-kick.

Dalot went forward again and exchanged passes with Ronaldo but his shot from the edge of the area was comfortably held by Raya.

Sky Sports’ Gary Neville at the Gtech Community Stadium: “Shaw and Martinez have their work cut out. Mbeumo and Toney are ganging up on them in the air.”

Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz at the Gtech Community Stadium: “What does Ten Hag say to his players here? Go for it? Or get to half-time? The Dutchman was doing all the talking in that huddle.

“It may be the latter considering how comfortable this is for Brentford. United fans, meanwhile, take the opportunity of a water break to chant against the Glazers.”

Astonishing scenes again as in the 31st minute, Brentford swung a corner into the far post and Toney headed the ball back across goal, leaving De Gea stranded.

It left Martinez trying to stop Mee from bundling the ball over the line, and he stands no chance.

Sky Sports’ Gary Neville at the Gtech Community Stadium: “Shell-shocked, Erik ten Hag.

“This is no surprise whatsoever. Erik ten Hag has picked the smallest team he could have possibly picked thinking he is going to outpass Brentford. But it is 5’9” Lisandro Martinez against Ben Mee. No chance.

“You have to deal with the physical aspect of the game in the Premier League and Manchester United are not doing it. I have to say, it is like a men’s team against under nines.

“They have been mauled, bullied, messed around with like you wouldn’t believe.”

Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz at the Gtech Community Stadium: “A Manchester United fan just tried to enter the field of play while the VAR check for that goal was going on. He was immediately stopped by stewards.

“Meanwhile, Brentford fans are singing ‘Christian, what’s the score.'”

By the 36th minute, Brentford were four up. Yes, really.

Toney was released down the left and it was two against two. Shaw tried his best to get back to stop Mbeumo, who surged forward, but Toney picked him out with an inch-perfect pass and his strike partner does the rest.

Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz at the Gtech Community Stadium: “Shocking from United. Absolutely shocking.

“Ten Hag’s tactics so far have been to bring Shaw and Dalot into the midfield to make up for their attacking midfield set-up, but that goal just shows how this has not worked at all.

“Toney and Mbuemo had a simple two versus two and what composure from both players.”

Sky Sports’ Gary Neville at the Gtech Community Stadium: “Mbeumo’s touch and finish. Wow. What a goal and what a moment for Brentford.

“What a first half of football we are seeing here.

“The annihilation of Manchester United.”

Sky Sports’ Gary Neville at the Gtech Community Stadium: “I think Manchester United felt they would just come here and play football because they have better football players but it doesn’t work that way. You have to win the fight, you have to earn the right to play, all those things I was told as a young player. It still rings true.”

Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz at the Gtech Community Stadium: “Michael Dawson was speaking on Soccer Saturday this morning talking about how many Man United players would get in the Big Six teams.

“Forget that, how many of Ten Hag’s players would get into Brentford’s team right now? Outfought, outbattled. And the quality is inferior too.”

FULL TIME: All over and Brentford have absolutely destroyed Manchester United in the west London sunshine this evening.

Four first-half goals in the opening 35 minutes from Dasilva, Jensen, Mee and Mbeumo have given the hosts a memorable victory and condemn United boss Erik ten Hag to two defeats out of two.

Brentford were brilliant, United abysmal. Where do they go from here? It’s only Liverpool next.

Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz at the Gtech Community Stadium:

“David De Gea put his arms up to apologise to the United fans who stayed until the end. Diogo Dalot spent a lot of time in that corner listening to what those United fans were saying.”

As mentioned, David de Gea was trolled over the many absolute howlers he produced against Brentford against Man Utd…

@Culturecams: De Gea is genuinely a shocking keeper. Its been evident for many seasons but “he saves us”.

@utdcynical: Two mistakes in 16 minutes for De Gea. Can he make it an hattrick?

@Shakes__10: DeGea thank you for your service but it’s time

@SeazonDeano: De Gea should never play for this club again

@MUFC_redarmy99: De Gea is finished and every game he starts is harming our progress as a club.

@footbaIItheory: Brentford take the lead against Man United due to some match fixing from David de Gea

@utdrobbo: HOW DO PEOPLE STILL DEFEND DE GEA?!

@SeanDOlfc: Football casuals still think De Gea is good it absolutely baffles me. They watch a different sport

@Muppetiers: For years now, De Gea has been making big mistakes in moments when we absolutely can’t afford it. Top 4 races, end of seasons, finals. Another problem we didn’t need.

@UtdAlii: If De Gea doesn’t gift Brentford two goals this is a different game man. I’m fucking done with him. He’s so delusional into thinking he’s a ball playing GK, coward on the ball & claims fuck all.

@UtdRyan_: Thing is we actually looked okay for 10 minutes until De Gea done his weekly cock up. It’s been a disaster ever since.

@JackyHenchman: People who told me all last season that David de Gea is not a big problem, where are you now?
