Curtis Davies reveals Derby County players’ stance and concerns on the current takeover saga which could lead to a exodus.
Rams defender Curtis Davies spoke with talkSPORT, saying he is ‘extremely concerned’ about the club’s takeover, amid the latest setback.
The club had hoped to be putting their problems behind them when Chris Kirchner was named as preferred bidder on the 6th of April, before exchanging contracts over the sale.
“I’m extremely concerned.”
“I literally scroll through Twitter every morning and search for ‘Derby County.’”

However, Kirchner has gone on to fail in completing the purchase on two occasions, having his period of exclusivity extended.
It was reported that a deal was expected to be signed off at the end of May though, with nothing agreed, it means that the prospect of a deal is in serious doubt and the club are back in trouble with a month until pre-season gets underway.
Kirchner was given until 5pm on Friday June 6th to provide evidence that he can complete the takeover.
However, administrators Quantuma have decided to ‘engage with other interested parties as a contingency measure’, with former Newcastle owner Mike Ashley among those keen, but doesn’t seem to be winning over Quantuma.
Former Wolves owner Steve Morgan is reportedly in the running to buy Derby while.
@RobDorsettSky also tweeted on Friday: “Been told #dcfc now talking to other parties as 5pm deadline for Kirchner looms. Ex chairman Andy Appleby and ex #wwfc owner Steve Morgan are the other options being explored, but Quantuma still refusing to engage with Mike Ashley.”
With players, club staff and supporters kept in the dark as to what’s going on at their club, Davies revealed just how desperate the feeling is in the camp.
Speaking on Thursday night’s Kick Off show, he told talkSPORT: “I’ve only spoken to a couple of players about their situations, there are obviously so many who are out of contract that keeping tabs on everyone isn’t easy.
EFL “incredibly disappointed” with announcement by Derby County’s Administrators “that Chris Kirchner has failed to complete the purchase of the Club”.

“I’ve spoken to a couple of players and it’s the same message.
“We’re getting most of our information from social media and news outlets and we’re all waiting to see what’s happening.
“Ultimately when you see reports like this [the 5pm Friday deadline], it doesn’t look positive for the current takeover.
“That’s the worry.
“It’s not just about the playing staff, it’s about the people at the training ground and people at the stadium who work there as well.
“If this takeover doesn’t happen and the club might potentially collapse, we might not get paid in June and us footballers can worry about ourselves, but it’s the football club as a whole.
“It’s not just the fact that people might not get paid, it’s people’s livelihoods in terms of paying mortgages and things like that, plus the fans on the other side of it who have an investment into the club of however long they’ve been alive and been supporting this club.
“It’s important to find a resolution, whatever that’s going to be, sooner rather than later, because it’s obviously dragged on for the whole season.
“We’ve tried to not let it affect us, even though it’s difficult, but now it’s desperate measures.
“If we go back in at Derby we’re meant to be back in on June 27, but we don’t have an owner and therefore we don’t have a squad. We’ve only got five players under contract.”
Davies added: “I’m extremely concerned because if you’re a fan sitting at home and you’re reading the reports and you hear that a player is reading those same reports to get his information, then you’d have to be worried.
“You’d be silly not to be worried.
“I literally sit and scroll through Twitter every morning and search for Derby County. That’s what I do and that’s the God’s honest truth.
“I search for Derby County because the big thing was that the takeover was meant to happen last week on Tuesday and then there was talk of a delay based on American bank holidays and English bank holidays with the Jubilee.
“It’s now Thursday, a week on.”

Fans reacted as Curtis Davies reveals Derby players’ stance and concerns on the current takeover saga…
@AVFCAL79: He was great on the radio today. He speaks well.
@jwright_1992: @cskirchner this is what you’ve caused. The most honest player at Derby
@Bretheren: Nope Mel Morris caused this
@ihftid: Brilliantly spoken.
@tomburgess1984: He’s brilliant. Couldn’t wish for a better representative for the club
@fletch131072: As a Forest fan and season card holder the games against Derby are the most important game of the season. Yes we are in different leagues. Still our biggest games. Nobody wants FC’s going bust. Especially your local rivals who many mates support as well. Hope this is sorted ASAP.
@trembirth: “The fans have an investment in the club for as long as they’ve been alive.” This man gets it! 👏🏻
@WMSmith84: Absolutely gutting how bad this situation has got to@think the players right now are scrolling Twitter right now just to see if they still have a club. What an absolute shambles. Get it sorted @quantuma1 #dcfcfans #dcfc
@joannefowkes: What a great guy @TheCurtisDavies is. My heart goes out to everyone involved with our club
@bango_don: @quantuma1 this is disgusting. Sort this mess out tell everyone at the club what’s happening. Mel destroyed us. @TheCurtisDavies and the other players managers put some pride back into the club last season. Give the some respect
@Bigsheep10: 👏 Well done Curtis. Just disgusting that even the players have to get info from social media. Mel gambled with peoples livelihoods at risk and it failed massively. Any 🐏 fan would take any owner over not having a club. Just hope this gets resolved soon 🙈
@SamZakisDickens: As a Forest fan,I can honestly say I do not want Derby #dcfc to go out of business. Beyond the rivalries,it’s a club and team that means so much to so many. Davies speaks very well. @cskirchner from day 1,looked & spoke like a chancer. How the admins didn’t see this, is beyond me!
@dazza_pickering: This is disgusting. The fact fans are being left to do this is one thing but for actual employees to use social media for updates on their future or to work out if they can afford their mortgage next month is shameful. @quantuma1 you should be ashamed of yourselves #dcfc
@derbydav16: Now and again a special person plays for your club. A person that becomes more than just what he does on the pitch. It’s fair to say @TheCurtisDavies is one of those. He will go down in Derby history as a genuine legend. My captain! #SaveDerbyCounty
@Chelkinsxx: God I love Curtis Davies. How sad is it that players are having to search Twitter to find out what is going on with their club?! 😳
@Rik_JP1884: Listening to @TheCurtisDavies here about the lack of respect shown to all staff at #dcfc is horrific. People resorting to social media to find out about their employer and future is not just wrong, it is incompetent on the part of whoever is supposed to be running this process.
@sprosaaaman: What ever happens next.. Thank you for everything you’ve put into that Derby shirt.. Term hero comes to mind.. Once a ram 🐏 always a ram 🐏 🖤🤍
@RamsFanatic1884: At some point you and others need to look after yourselves, you have families to think about. I just hope and pray we sort something out soon so we have chance of keeping at least a few of you.
@Sophiedcfc92: None of the players staff or fans deserve this, waking up every morning and checking social media just see whats going on. Just hope something can get somewhat sorted in the next week or two as I’d like to get a proper nights sleep at some point 😂!
@500milesforGRiT: You are just a tremendous human being Curtis. I hope your future is at Derby, but if it isn’t, thank you for everything.
@ScottGretton: Thanks Curtis, you are a shining light. I hope to god you stay. You are the glue holding it together. You represent us all. You are one of us. It won’t be the same without you battling for us. I hope it gets sorted and you marshal us next season. Love you skip.
@carlhadfield: Wow!! Stay strong big man! As a fan it’s hard, but to hear the roar emotion in your voice and for you to be still unaware of what’s going on! It’s insane! We want our club back and we want you back! You are and always will be one of us now. 🐏 #SaveDerbyCounty #dcfcfans
@dcfcg02: What a terrific human being you are Curt, I pray to god you stay with the club as you are absolutely adored by our fanbase including myself! Thank you for being so vocal and speaking your mind, We are all in this together big man! 🐏
@A380Heavy: Curtis, you’ve already proven you’re Derby through and through but your eloquence and undying passion for the club is a real credit to you sir. We’re so lucky to have you, let’s hope we’re able to see you again at Pride Park helping to bring this historic club back to greatness.
@KerryAngie: We are all behind the players and staff, Curtis. We feel for you and want you to stay, let’s hope today is the day we get good news. Stay strong! 👊🏾
