Crystal Palace go viral with TikTok video that even have Burnley fans amused after defeat

Crystal Palace have managed to go viral with a TikTok video that even have Burnley fans were left amused after their side’s 2-0 defeat.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson to Sky Sports:

“We can play better than we did, when we did win the ball back we sometimes surrendered it a bit more cheaply than we needed to with the quality in our team.

“Normally in those positions I’d expect more from us. Burnley were good, they put us under a lot of pressure, but it was an outstanding defensive performance and our game management was good.

“Credit to Burnley, they got around the ball very quickly and didn’t give us much time.”

On Jeffrey Schlupp’s opener: “We realised they are good at playing out from the back, they do it well but they do take the odd chance and we hoped we could punish one of the moments when they didn’t get it quite right. Jordan chose his moment perfectly, his cross was good and Schlupp did brilliantly to make up the ground to get there.”

On Eberechi Eze’s return: “It was a difficult game for him, we didn’t have the ball as much as we’d like. To get the best out of him, you have to get the ball to him. We didn’t get him into the game as much as we would like, but that’s the nature of the game.”

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany to BBC Match of the Day: “I think it’s very simple, at the moment there are individual mistakes. That’s what’s costing us at this moment in time. I do believe in a game like this you can still turn it around and give yourself chances. But it’s a game of fine margins. It’s a difficult result of course.

“Look, the reality of the league is what it is. You can’t hide away from it. The performance was good, we had chances. We didn’t score, we conceded very little chances but we made a big mistake and that cost us. That’s the reality of this league.

“Putting things into context, it’s not supposed to be easy when you come up. We’ve just got to dust ourselves off and get ready to perform again and believe we will get the results that we need.

“You create the chances so you’ve got to be doing something to do that. I have every belief Jay Rodriguez can score, he’s been doing that all his career. And a few others are on that path to become those players. That’s a big thing for us to say, for us to lose one or two players is a big thing. We need everyone firing on all cylinders to get those goals and wins.

“We have to keep doing the work, stay calm. I’m not happy but I’m extremely motivated. It’s a good squad and staff and people to work with.”

On boos from the home fans at full-time: “The frustration came because we conceded the second goal 30 seconds before the final whistle. And of course it happens because we’re sending players forward. But the fans are always behind us, they’ve been behind us today again. After you lose you will feel disappointed, like we already do.

“I’m fully focused on these players. We need to make sure this team gets results.”
