Crewe boss’ explosive response to ‘disgusting’ Cardiff City

Crewe boss David Artell made an explosive response to a ‘disgusting’ offer put forward by Cardiff City for captain Perry Ng.

The Alexandra manager says he’s ready to fight to keep hold of his player who has helped the club to 9th place in the League One table in their first season back since promotion.

Bluebirds boss Neil Harris has confirmed that Ng is a player who the club have been looking at in the January transfer window, with Cardiff reportedly stepping up their interest in the full-back with an ‘undisclosed bid’.

That bid of an unknown amount has seemingly been rejected by Crewe, with Artell launching a stinging attack in his criticism of the offer made, revealing it to be a long way off their valuation of the player.

Ng currently has six months left to run on his current deal at Gresty Road, and Artell admits there is the possibility that he may look to run down his contract before moving on to a higher level in the summer.

He insists however that there is currently no pressure on the club to cash in on one of their star players, and has hit out at the agent he says has helped fuel Cardiff’s interest.

“I think we have responded (to the offer), but it didn’t warrant a response, it was disgusting,” said Artell. “It came about through an agent who is trying to force a deal. He’s not working for us because we don’t pay agents. He’s trying to get a deal going, but he’s miles away – between here and Mars to be honest.

“Perry understands that. He’s been a terrific leader and a terrific captain. He’s got another four months if he runs down his contract, but if he doesn’t we have him for another few years.

“I’ve spoken to his agent and he was fuming about how the ‘deal’ came about.”

It was just a few months ago that disgusting and quite frankly shocking new footage shows the Crewe player spat TWICE at one particular Cheltenham coach.

The 19-second clip shows Railwaymen captain Perry Ng spitting on Robins coach Wade Elliot after the final whistle of the FA Cup clash.

“What their captain did after the final whistle was a disgrace” is exactly what Cheltenham manager Michael Duff said after the FA Cup win.

The Robins are having a great season so far, sitting second in the League Two table, and have now booked a place in the FA Cup third round, with the draw coming Monday.

Finn Azaz had handed Cheltenham the perfect start, scoring after just three minutes when pouncing on a poor headed clearance to hit the ball into the bottom left-hand corner.

In the post match interview, he was asked – You clearly get on well with David Artell. Was there a bit of banter between you on the touchline?

“We agreed that the referee didn’t have the strongest performance, which is the most polite way of putting it.

“Dave is a good bloke and he’ll be disappointed with his captain (Perry Ng), who spat water at one of my coaching staff so as captain of a football club, that’s a disgrace.

“I am sure Dave will say something about that because that doesn’t reflect him, I know that.”

What actually happened after the final whistle?‘ the interviewer asked.

Duff replied: “I missed it, but basically he’s had a drink of water and spat it all over Wade Elliott, all down his front.

“It’s a disgrace, if I am brutally honest, but I don’t want that to overshadow what was a really good performance.”

Fans reacted after seeing Crewe boss’ explosive response to the ‘disgusting’ offer put forward by Cardiff City…

@nathanlCCFC: Is a bit odd considering he doesn’t have many cards to play. Think Ng’s contract is up in the summer so unless they’re confident of him signing a new one with them, if they want any money they need to get rid now? Mind you we probably offered £9.50 and a Mars bar

@YerManTogers: Neil Harris offered to lend them his bumper book of tactics

@ieuangardiner: Why is it always drama with us

@NorthGwentBlue: We have no idea what “we” offered or what they want, Harris said yesterday that it was all being dealt with by the board as re enquiries. We have asked someone in the club shop to manage the negotiations. We have offered three hooligan books and a 12 inch blue bendy ruler.

@SteveG1809: You’d think it was a negotiating stance, given the guy is out of contract in the summer (and unlikely to sign a new one if he thinks Championship clubs are sniffing around?)…..

@luke_d_1987: Artell is just trying to give it the big one to Crewe fans to show hes putting up a fight . When in reality he’s shitting himself his captain & best player is going for peanuts cos hes out of contract in the summer and no doubt fucked. He’s tryin to create a bidding war

@JamieBluebird: I don’t get how we can get it so wrong. Surely 500k gets him. Last 6 months of contract from a lower league side. I bet we’ve offered something pathetic like 100k

@daiIsrael: Isn’t this guy in the last six months of his contract and looking to run it down? Think I’ve read that but correct me if I’m wrong? Better to get a deal than no deal, especially for clubs such as Crewe.
