Coventry player makes cheeky ‘dig’ at Man Utd in reaction to FA Cup draw as fans get confident

Coventry City player Milan van Ewijk makes a cheeky ‘dig’ at Man Utd in reaction to FA Cup draw as fans of each club get confident.

The Sky Blues’ impressive journey in the FA Cup continued over the weekend when they secured a spot in the semi final, netting two goals in injury time to defeat Wolves 3-2 in an extraordinary game at Molineux.

As a result of this, they will now face Manchester United at Wembley, who triumphed over Liverpool 4-3 in another thrilling quarter-final match at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Coventry last reached this stage of the FA Cup in 1987, when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 after extra-time. Should they manage to overcome Man Utd, they will take on either Chelsea or reigning champions Manchester City in the potential final this summer.

Coventry and their supporters are quietly optimistic about their chances of getting a win over the Red Devils, with Milan van Ewijk openly expressing confidence in their ability to succeed.

He said, as per ZiggoSport: “The draw is alright. Against Man City you pretty much have no chance. With all due respect, Man United is a top club but they have games where it doesn’t go well.”

Mark Goldbridge gave his reaction to Ten Hag’s side getting Mark Robins’ Coventry.

In the clip below, which Coventry will surely also look to use as motivation, he said: “Coventry City. Get in, get in, get in, get in, get in.

“Coventry City for Manchester United. We’re going to win the cup. We’re going to win the cup. We’re going to win the cup.

“Manchester United. We’re going to Wembley twice.”

Coventry fans also spoke to Sky Sports about their chances of Man Utd.

One said: “Absolutely no worries. We beat them in 87, well beat them again this time. Bring it on.

Another added: “I think well win it. Yeah, I think if we go with the right same in mind, but we’ve got to take our chances this time.

“We didn’t take our chances against Wolves and we wouldn’t have been in that position at the end.

“But this time we’ve got to take them against United when they come along.

A third said: Is very doable. I mean, yes, you’ve got Marcus Rashford, but we have Ellis Simms. We have had you. Right. And also we’ve got think. I think we can do it. Yeah, I really do.”

Twitter users reacted after the Coventry player Milan van Ewijk makes cheeky ‘dig’ at Man Utd in reaction to the FA Cup draw as fans and mark Goldbridge get confident…

@skybluesblog: OK, who let Milan speak to the media?! Haha.

@UthmanOladejo: he’s on point however i can imagine his tears at wembley

@R_J_Morrell: Team talk writes itself. What a clown #mufc

@AnthonyMahoney3: How far we’ve come lol little ol city !

@Rajan17__: He’s not really wrong, but there’s a big difference between facing a depleted Wolves in the quarters and United in a semi-final.

@UtdRyan_: There’s nothing wrong with this, btw.

@Joeytaylor123: Why do they always ask people on Monday morning when the normal ones are working 😭

@Unitedeveryday: We need to show him in April that we can have good games then. Not taking them for granted but if we actually show up on the day and don’t underestimate them, we’ll beat them. A great chance to reach another cup final and we shouldn’t let it go to waste.

@_nickbedolla21: I ain’t gonna front, he’s 100% correct

@philritchie: There’s Ten Hag’s team talk sorted…

@Emzyl_: They can definitely surprise United

@NsmUnited: Whilst Milan might have a point – I don’t think saying this publicly is a good idea… 🤣🤦‍♂️ #PUSB #MUFC #MUNCOV #FACup #mulive 🔵🔴

@hojlundfan: And there you go boys. Big for their boots, and providing us with a source of motivation like no other. They’re underestimating us for the biggest game of their life.

@lfcdeion: please fucking do these pricks @Coventry_City

@tommyydnb: HAHAHAHA THE DRAW IS ALRIGHT YES MILAN U TELL EM

@jimmymcbride1: Tbf he’s said nothing wrong here, we’ve just got to make sure we turn up in the right frame of mind on the day & play to our full potential

@1875Ben: “You may have Rashford but we’ve got Simms who’s only just got some sort of form going after spending a boat load on him.”

@CraigWood_: Jesus Christ, this ain’t a good look on us Cov fans is it… 🫣🤣

@MichaelCox1991: Good god. The they’ve got Marcus Rashford but we’ve got Ellis Simms and Haji Wright comment has finished me off 😂. Are these paid actors?! Gotta be #PUSB

@ALD1878X: You can shove yer Marcus Rashford up yer arse says this lady

@marksmithccfc: Bring them on, we need the spirit of 97 and 2007. Success can happen if you believe!

@lsull_: She’s absolutely merked us there. What a shambles

@matthewftm02: Yeah they’ve got rashford but we’ve got Ellis simms 🤣🤣🤣😂😂

@rob58uk: We shall do our best, to be honest, as a Sky Blue fan, Man U was the team I wanted the most. I genuinely think we have a chance, it’ll be difficult but let them write us off & we’ll see what happens.

@Yorkshire_Steve: To be fair, any Coventry fan will have celebrated equally when they got Man Utd in the draw as they are the weakest of the 3 they could have drawn.

@JakeRuss1000: How low Utd have gone. Literally celebrating like they have won the cup because they got the easier team. Embarrassing from their perspective

@ForestAreMagico: It’ll be every fan base in the country (including a few United fans) vs United for sure. Come on Coventry!!

@jamieallan1998: Coventry have the opportunity to do the funniest thing imaginable

@CameronCairns87: It seems Mr. Goldbridge is excited, hence the criminal reaction. It’s okay, Mark. Underestimate us at your peril. We’re a club that thrives when people write us off. We’re good when people believe in us. However, when people doubt Coventry, we can be great. Bring it on. #PUSB
