Concord Rangers manager Sammy Moore has departed the National League South side due to ‘ongoing personal problems’.
Not only has he impressed this season by guiding the club to the playoff zone, but he also did well in his previous role with Leatherhead.
The club statement read: “Unfortunately Sammy has been asked to step down as 1st team manager due to ongoing personal problems.
“We would like to take this opportunity to wish him all the best for the future.
“Jack Midson, Darren Beale, Danny Scopes and Adam Drewe have been asked to remain at the club and we await their decisions.
“Further news will be released later this week.”
It comes days after Concord have been told that they are ineligible to compete in this year’s National League South playoffs.
They failed to meet ground grading requirements, that was to provide 500 covered seats, and because of this, now only five clubs will be taking part in the playoffs.
Whoever finished 4th went straight into the semi finals.
They statement following the league’s decision read: “The National League have confirmed that we are not permitted to compete in this years play off games despite us giving full reassurance that we would have the additional seating required in place for the new season.
“The league inserted a new rule regarding the 500 seating giving clubs 2 years to have them in place, but unfortunately this still conflicts with the play off rule they have in place, I believe they need to review this further, as again like last year they have put themselves in an embarrassing position as they have also removed the rule where they can promote the next team below into the play off competition.
“Following my discussions with the league they had 3 options and decided to take the option below One team will now receive a bye to the next round of the play offs. Although this is very disappointing for everyone involved at the club we should be extremely proud of what Sammy, Jack, Darren, Dan and all the team and staff have achieved this season with virtually a totally new squad. Our objectives were to maybe gain a top ten finish, So the fact we have stayed in that position and above has been a fantastic accomplishment.
“We can now concentrate on plans for next season and set our sights on some new targets objectives both on and off the field.”
After the news broke that Sammy Moore has been asked to leave his role as manager of Concord due to personal problems, fans took to give a rather puzzled reaction to it all, the club’s statement graphic also got a mocking – find out what they had to say on the next page.
