A commentator brutally laughs as Conor Gallagher produces one of the worst penalties ever in Chelsea’s friendly against Charlotte.
Christian Pulisic gave Chelsea the lead in the 30th minute against the Major League Soccer side at the Venue Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina.
But Charlotte, who were only formed in December 2019, were handed the opportunity to level the scoreline in the last few seconds of the game when Trevoh Chalobah was penalised for blocking a shot with his hand.
Daniel Rios stepped up and dispatched the ball past Edouard Mendy with ease, forcing a penalty shoot-out in the process.
Mendy was also unable to save any of Charlotte’s five penalties in the shoot-out as the American outfit secured the biggest victory in their short history.
Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling all had their kicks, putting the ball the back of the net,but Gallagher will want to quickly forget about his attempt from 12 yards and judging from the video, you can see why…
The England international, 22, appeared to try a Panenka (we think) but got it horribly wrong as Charlotte FC goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega stood still on his line as the ball literally just rolled kindly into his hands, leaving the keeper rather smug at what just happened.
Gallagher’s attempt had no disguise and the ball was barely unable to get off the ground.

Thomas Tuchel pinpointed plenty of improvements to be made following the draw in Charlotte, while also updating on the fitness of four of his absent players.
‘In general I would say we played a good first half but unfortunately only for 80 metres of the pitch,’ he said.
‘The last 20 metres were not good enough, even in the first half. We found a lot of spaces to accelerate and to penetrate the box but we struggled with our decision-making and precision in the last 20 metres.
‘It was simply not good enough for the effort and quality we showed in the first 80 metres of the pitch. The amount of space we had and the amount of attacks we created, there were simply not enough clear chances or deliveries in the last 20 metres.
‘We played a very good match in all the other aspects but in the second half, it took us about half an hour to show some quality and that was maybe for 10 minutes so not good at all – not offensively, not structure-wise, not in effort or the hunger to be the dominant team.’
‘Timo had some hamstring problems so we didn’t take the risk with him tonight,’ said Tuchel of his compatriot.
‘Kepa has had some pain that was disturbing him to feel free in the movements, nothing too much but we didn’t take the risk.
‘Azpi took a big knock above his knee on his muscle in training. He ran into Edou [Mendy] in an accident and is in some discomfort but if it was a Premier League match then I think we would have taken the risk. We just felt that today it was not worth it in case he did any further damage and is out for another three or four days.
‘Ross has felt his hamstring for a few days now, the same like Timo. It’s more of a discomfort than an injury but like the others, we didn’t think there was any need to take a risk at this stage of pre-season.’

Twitter users reacted while the commentator brutally laughs as Conor Gallagher produces one of the worst penalties ever…
@VonBarronshire: Don’t think he’d want to remember that in any shirt to be fair. Woeful penalty
@ThePalaceJoe: Deserves the laugh tbf, awful awful spot kick
@DomCPFC: If I was him I would leave Chelsea for Palace and start over lol
@steve_worrell: Trying to force a move back to Palace 😉
@adambrown93: Deserved laugh, terrible penalty
@kmozapata: Hahahahahahahaha hahahaha what in the fucking hell was that??
@connorking3: What was that 😭
@jmarthaler: I don’t know if midweek friendlies during a hugely busy part of the MLS schedule are a good idea, but this truly has been an exceptionally funny night in American soccer.
@wsgpaul: Gonna call it as it is, these English sides have been overly arrogant for absolutely no reason. Just play football and drop your ego, these are the consequences of being in your own head.
@iRealPedro: Lmfaoooooooo, who do you think you are?
@KimboChimbo: TT might ship him back off on loan for this madness 😂😂😂😂😭😭😭
@LFCAmr: bloody hell this is beyond horrendous 😭😭😭
@agobakwe_m: It’s always funny when a player tries to hit it down the middle and the keeper remains there 😂
@KyleRudder: Well that was terrible 🤣😂
@EmiSmithShowe: This might be the worst penalty I’ve ever seen (that was intended to be scored)
@Mightytottenha1: Man went for the panenka and did this. 💀💀🤣🤣🤣
@MikeAmbrose_: You’re not that guy pal 😭
@CFCMid: Nice pass
@EthanShutt: Watched this live. Laughed out loud.
@jxshmaddison: That’s him out on loan again then
@BoganGooner: He was thinking about getting more highlights in his hair after the game and forgot what he was doing
@cappeddy_: The arrogance of some of these young players. Just strike the ball properly and stop being a gimp!!
@smalltownsean: The commentators laugh 😂
@OhWhenTheTown: He’s a @dannyhylton09 wannabe
@Chloess54: The English just can’t take penalties
@TandileSN: Look at the smirk on the goalie’s face 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣
@Spedopamine: I’ll never understand the logic behind a penalty that ain’t simply picking a spot and blasting it as hard as you can. That is the only way I’d personally take a pen.
