Clubs demand Sheffield Wednesday points deduction over the sale of their Hillsborough stadium to owner Dejphon Chansiri it’s been revealed.
A number of sides are demanding a serious punishment to be imposed if the Owls are found guilty of misconduct by an independent disciplinary commission.
The EFL have confirmed to Sky Sports News today that the process is still “ongoing” with the season’s final day on Satuday the 2nd of May 2020.
Wednesday were charged by the league organisation back in November and will face the disciplinary commission before the conclusion of the current season.
The charge relates to the sale of the club’s Hillsborough stadium to Chansiri for £60m in the 2017/18 season.
Wednesday have said they believe the charge to be “unlawful” and have challenged the league’s decision.
If they are found guilty, a 12-point deduction depending on the size of any financial failure could be handed and the measures open to the commission range from a warning up to possible expulsion from the league.
The guidelines also allow for up to a further nine-point deduction for what are described as “aggravated circumstances”.
Garry Monk’s men are currently 12th in the Championship table, 14 points above the relegation zone.
The other 71 EFL clubs are set to meet towards the end of February with the issue of profit and sustainability high on the agenda.
Fans have given their reaction after finding out that clubs demand EFl give Sheffield Wednesday their points deduction…
