Clitheroe make a shock signing of ex-Championship keeper Lee Camp on a short-term basis as cover for their injured first-choice shot-stopper.
The former Northern Ireland keeper started in the game against Warrington Rylands, but couldn’t keep a cleansheet, falling to a 2-2 draw earlier in February.
The club said that Camp – whose prolific career includes almost 600 senior club appearances and international caps for Northern Ireland and England’s U21s – had signed a short-term deal with the Blues.
CFC have made an unprecedented short term signing. Vastly experienced Northern Ireland international Goalkeeper Lee Camp.

The 37-year-old, a Championship title winner with Bournemouth in 2015 who has also played for Derby County, QPR, Rotherham United and Birmingham City, came in after regular number-one Chris Thompson sustained a head injury in a recent defeat at Widnes.
After the Warrington game, Clitheroe played away to market Drayton in midweek, and Lee Camp wasn’t named in the starting lineup or on the bench.
The Blues currently sit just outside the Northern Premier League – West Division playoffs in 6th place, picking up 45 points from 26 games.

Camp played for the England under-21s five times, including the first (professional) match at the new Wembley Stadium. He stated that this honour was the highlight of his footballing career up to that time. Camp conceded a goal 25 seconds after the game had started, making him the first man to concede a goal at the new stadium.
Having not earned a call-up to the full England team, Camp stated that he would be keen on playing for Northern Ireland, for whom he qualifies through his Newtownards-born grandfather. Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington asked the Irish Football Association to start the process to make Camp available for the national side and FIFA confirmed Camp’s eligibility to play for Northern Ireland on 16 February 2011. He received his first call-up to the Northern Ireland squad on 14 March 2011, for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Serbia and Slovenia, and made his Northern Ireland debut in the match against Serbia on 25 March 2011.

After seeing that Clitheroe make the shock signing of the ex-Championship keeper, fans of his former clubs couldn’t help but mock him, while others were pleased with the incoming…
@monocular_71: Should be giving the lad from the U23s a chance while Thommo is out – disappointing move by the club.
@karaokeking72: Good old popadom hands..you’d be better off playing rush keeper, he’s shocking
@j47172188: Biscuit fingers is back
@allylay10: Finally found his level
@CbeveridColin: Thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
@LongworthDan: Sack whoever is in charge of signings as soon as possible. You would be better playing with 11 outfield players and no goalkeeper
@CTimm89: He has no arms
@PaulAndersonJnr: Better off not bothering with a keeper and just playing with 10 men…
@RobRaine180: Poor Clitheroe
@jonny8686: Make sure his hands dont get wet they’re made of poppadoms
@artlowy8: Who’s going to tell them?
@sadie2235: god i’m gutted. wanted him back alongside defoe #SAFC
@ColRob123: *puts £10 on Shawbridge over 2.5 goals 😂
@twangmackem: Still too high a level for this useless bastard. Stealing a living
@sophie9williams: He must have some agent biscuit fingers like
@tombrown221016: Great keeper for Rotherham 👍🏻
@ElliottSAFC: Our thoughts are with Clitheroe during this troubled dark times.
@JonesSAFC: Me life savings on whoever is playing Clitheroe please mr bookmaker…
@Capt_Fishpaste: I see he’s still playing well above his level.
@StephenStubbs5: He must have a good agent, still managing to get a club above his level
@Townendtopman: Vastly shite
@1charlie29: Hope you aren’t in a relegation battle cos you’ve lost it you might as well have signed a chocolate firegaurd
@GARP1967: The worst goalkeeper I’ve ever seen in a professional league. Despite that… good luck 🤞🏼
