Christian Fuchs issues a statement on the eve of the new league season, after his surprise departure from Newport County on the 27th of June.
He spent just seven months in charge, keeping them in League Two, Newport extending their 13 year stay in the EFL with two late goals to win at bottom side Barrow which also sent the hosts down on the final day of last season.
Since Fuchs’ resignation, Newport chairman Huw Jenkins spoke more about it to BBC Sport. Five weeks ago, Fuchs said: “I came into a club that was doomed to be relegated and turning it around fills me with a lot of pride.
“I really enjoyed every single day that I went in, the boys gave me so much energy. “Coming out on top by not being relegated, securing League Two status and having those celebrations on the last game, was really good. I really enjoyed it.”
And now the LMA has released a further statement on his behalf.

Fuchs said, via the League Managers Association: “I would like to start this message by saying a huge thank you to everyone at Newport County for giving me my first opportunity as a Head Coach and be part of such a special football club.
“Right from day one, you, the Amber Army, were right there backing me, my staff and the players every step of the way. Your support never wavered, even during the most difficult moments and it’s this passion and belief that played such a huge part in us securing our place in the EFL.
“It has been a privilege to work with this group of players and staff. They gave everything every single day, and it was an honour to go on this journey with them. I am incredibly proud of what we achieved together. To go from where we started to securing safety, with 12 wins along the way, is something I’ll always look back on with pride. It was a team effort in every sense.
“I had hoped this journey would continue, and it is with great sadness that I left Newport, but football doesn’t always allow for things to work out the way you would like. Sometimes different paths emerge, and I respect that. I leave knowing we achieved our main objective and with complete belief that the club has a strong foundation to build on.
“I wish everyone connected with Newport County nothing but success in the seasons ahead. This club, its people, and its supporters will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will look back on my time here with great pride and affection.
“As for me, I am excited for whatever comes next. I will take the experiences, memories, and lessons from Newport with me, and I look forward to getting back on the training pitch and into the dugout when the right opportunity comes along.
“Clubs carry on. Managers come and go. It was a privilege to have been entrusted with this chapter of Newport County’s story, and I leave with nothing but gratitude.”

@shinglemonk: A riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. Maybe the reasons are somewhat private and Herr Fuchs is trying to be placatory without being entirely expository. Perhaps time will tell. The formulations have the whiff of smouldering bridges about them.
