A Chesterfield player is set be punished after he was found to have played cricket whilst he was supposedly injured.
That man was striker Tom Denton who failed to turn up to the National League side’s opening training session last month.
Chief executive Graham Bean: “He’s come back from close season with a slight knee problem.
“I don’t know the full ins and outs of it but I think he’ll be out for a few weeks.”
However news came out that he had in fact played in a Huddersfield Premiership match for Shepley and went on to score 66 runs.
He was then spotted by former Chesterfield player and ex-Derbyshire cricketer Chris Marples who then posted about it on social media, that was when the club then found out what their striker had been up to.
