Cheers from Shrewsbury fans as Toto Nsiala takes out Wrexham’s James McClean with tackle

There were huge cheers from Shrewsbury fans as Toto Nsiala takes out Wrexham’s James McClean with a ‘you love to see it’ tackle.

Shrewsbury made a change at the break with Toto Nsiala coming on to replace Aaron Pierre, and a roar erupted inside the stadium following Nsiala’s to block McClean’s effort on the 97th minute. McClean was booked.

The clip has gone on to get over 400,000 views on Twitter alone in less than 12 hours. Have a watch of it below…

Wrexham suffered a setback, losing 2-1 defeat at Shrewsbury as a brace from John Marquis helped struggling Shrewsbury clinch a win that lifts them up to 21st in League One table; while Wrexham miss the chance to go top.

Shrewsbury Town head coach Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Radio Shropshire:

“It was absolutely phenomenal. The work-rate, the changes, the way the week has been. For those boys to put that performance in tells me we have every chance of staying in this league.

“That was a phenomenal shift from everyone, epitomised by the front two. They never stopped running.

“John deserves his two goals and Lloyd his man of the match award.

“We had a plan in place. It worked well, and I’m really pleased.”

Gareth Ainsworth told Sky Sports:

“When eight minutes goes up your heart does sink a little bit.

“The boys absolutely deserved that tonight, they gave everything.

“They defended like warriors and they got the goals we knew they could get. I thought the game plan really worked.

“I’ve just had a big cheer because I’ve said ‘right lads, you’ve got three days off, I’ll see you on Monday’.”

Shrewsbury Town’s George Lloyd told Sky Sports:

“It’s unbelievable really, probably one of the best atmospheres I’ve ever played in.

“Credit to the fans, an unbelievable day.

“We’ve got a really tight knit changing room in there.

“Everyone’s running for everyone at the moment. Hopefully we can keep looking forward.”

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson told BBC Radio Wales:

“We’ve handed them two goals with two mistakes. When you give a team in a frenetic derby atmosphere two huge lifts it gives them something to hold onto.

“We’ve scored and got back in the game and then the sloppy moment costs us the penalty.

“This season we’ve been solid and secure in our defensive display.

“We spoke before the game about making sure the basics were in place, and it has cost us by making those mistakes.”
