Charlton Athletic and their fans were left stunned after defender Naby Sarr was sent off just 39 seconds into their League One clash against AFC Wimbledon this afternoon.
The Addicks went into the game winning five of their last six games, but got a scare as Sarr made a late challenge on the Wombles’ Tennai Watson before the referee gave the Frenchman a straight red, meaning the hosts had to play at least 89 minutes with 10-men.
Charlton made their feelings of the decision known on their Twitter account…
1' RED CARD! Sarr is giving a straight red card for a late challenge.

And they certainly thought it was controversial to send him off…

Just over half an hour later, AFC Wimbledon also had a sending off of their own when Mitch Pinnock was given marching orders for diving. The player did receive a yellow earlier on in the game.
Charlton were on top with and without having an extra man on the field and got their first goal of the game when Lyle Taylor poked the ball home on the 60th minute.
The hosts made it 2-0 just four minutes before the 90th minute mark as Mark Marshall drilled his shot into the bottom left-hand corner from the edge of the box to secure another three points for his side.
